WhatsApp has launched three new features to improve group chats, which include upgrades to polls and a way to create new chats from existing groups.
One of the larger focuses of today’s update was support for polls, with several upgrades launching specifically for the feature. Essentially, voter names can now be hidden so people feel more comfortable sharing their input; you can now set an end time to lock voting by a given deadline; and polls can be edited for up to 15 minutes.
Similar to other group chat apps like Discord and Slack, support for @all mentions has now been added. WhatsApp noted that “For larger groups with more than 32 people, @all is available for admins only.”
The final major feature added with this update is the ability to create new group chats from an existing group.
If you ever need to create a smaller group chat, you can find the new ‘Create a similar group’ button on the group details screen. This feature was shown off by WhatsApp as part of a surprise within a birthday dinner chat, but this could be used for a variety of reasons.
Last year, Rogers expanded its Rogers Satellite service to work with WhatsApp alongside both Google Maps and X.
