Oakville, Ont.-based indie developer Studio MDHR has announced two new Cuphead projects at Summer Game Fest 2026.
The first, which was only teased in a stop-motion trailer produced by Toronto’s Stop Motion Department and Continue Agency, is a brand-new, hand-animated Cuphead game, although no title was mentioned. (It’s not clear if it will be “Cuphead 2.”) Studio MDHR teased that the project is in the “early stages” of development.
Additionally, the Canadian developer unveiled a secondary project, Mighty Cuphead Adventure, that’s been made by a smaller team within the studio. It’s a retro-inspired 8-bit action platformer that was actually programmed using Sega Master System-era technology, and it will be playable on modern consoles.
No other information, including release windows, were provided for either project. It’s a notable announcement either way, given that Cuphead was released in 2017 and its Delicious Last Course expansion two years later.
