Mangos were sent out to promote upcoming Windows Phone preview event

Microsoft will be holding their “next major release of Windows Phone” on May 24th. This is the upcoming “Mango” release and to promote the event Microsoft in the United States and Canada sent media out e-mail invitations… but over in Poland it seems they received a real mango in a box! Cool idea and hopefully the mango is ripe. Interesting that Google’s Android OS is going the route of tasty deserts such as Donut, Eclair, Gingerbread, Ice Cream Sandwich while Microsoft is choosing sweet tasting fruit like Mango.

The Windows Phone Mango preview of the upcoming features will be officially shown off on Tuesday at 9:55am sharp.

  2. Although I’m not a windows phone lover I’ve gotta say the design is way better than what it used to be.

  4. I really want to see Windows Phone become on par with Android/iOS and RIM. The more platforms there are, the better for the consumer.

  6. Why is it called mango? I didn’t realize Windows had also gone the way of the fruit/dessert.

Next week, I want to see a study about whether or not demand for a food goes up when a mobile OS is named after it. Have frozen yogourt sales gone down since 2.3 came out and made being stuck on Froyo a bad thing?

I think the real lesson here is that the mobile industry is entirely controlled by the fruits&desserts lobby. Right? Right?

    • XER, I noticed you didn’t mentioned DOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows NT, Windows XP, Windows 7, not to mention all the server editions that wiped out Novell out of the corporate offices, and Office products and XBox games like Halo.

And you’re probably typing your post using a Windows product, on top of that you’ve never used a Windows Phone 7 (helps if you know the official name of the product) long enough to make a judgement on it.

Selectively choosing products you know nothing and complaining about it without facts to back it up makes you a “troll”.

PS Bill Gates is not managing day-to-day business anymore at Microsoft, shows how little you know about this company.

  9. That is a really bad looking Mango cultivar… Mangoes are usually yellow (atleast the ones that taste good).. They could have ordered some good cultivars like Alphonso, Dusehri, Langra, etc.

  12. Whether or not Microsoft makes good products, they are not a “cool” company. And sending mangos out is less cool. But maybe if it has been a mango desert party.
