HTC’s One X is a pretty darn good smartphone, and its recent update has made it even better.
Though it only came out in April, HTC has been working on a new device, according to leaked sources, that will make it even better. While currently using the working name Endeavour C2 (the original One X was codenamed Endeavour) it will likely come to market as the One X II or One X2, and be equipped with a 1.7Ghz quad-core Tegra 3+ processor, much like the T-Mobile variant of the One X.
This could be the 5-inch 1080p device we talked about last week, though at this point all we know is that the device will have a larger battery (thank goodness!), a faster processor, more RAM (hopefully 2GB) and come bundled with some urBeats headphones.
Also on board is ClearVoice HD calling technology which, once activated by the carriers, will allow for sharp-as-a-tack voice calls. HTC’s updated Watch application will also be on board, though we’d expect all devices with the service to receive the same update at some point.
Sound good? Is it too soon for a One X follow-up?

It’d be nice if it comes out on a few more carriers here. Not sure how much it helps HTC to have their flagship phone consigned to one carrier (now 2 I guess, since I see Telus carrying it), and yet have Samsung on just about every carrier. Ah well, here’s hoping

I assume it is the carriers attempting to gain the upper hand by claiming exclusive rights to possible popular handsets.
I’m guessing Samsung is now popular enough that they don’t go for the exclusive rights, to maximize the sales of their flagship phones.

Too soon. I just got my One X a couple months ago.

not too soon at all, but only because my contract ends in a couple months and I’ll be holding out for this…ssuming it comes with removeable storage that is!

It would be great if this came with either 32GB internal storage or an SD slot. The current version leaves less than 10GB for use.

Didn’t HTC state at the start of the year that their new strategy was to streamline themselves and put out fewer, but better devices?
HTC has a crazy slate of handsets and minor spinoffs of handsets that I find mind boggling. A slightly better One X isn’t going to be what brings them success.

This or the Note 2 will be my next phone. I’m very curious as to the thickness, weight and durability of the new htc vs the Note 2, and will probably be the deciding factor for me.

Possible. HTC releases phones twice per year. Last year we had the Sensation in spring and the Amaze/Raider later.
But I don’t really believe in 1920×1080 displays. On a 7″ tablet maybe. But on a phone it’s too soon/overkill.
Quad-core tegra 3 with LTE and 2GB RAM would make a nice phone. 1280×720 is all right.

The reason I went with the SGIII instead of the oneX is because it did not have the ability to expand the memory with a micro sim card and that is just a very poor decision on HTC’s part.

How can anyone buy a phone when they announce or info leaks about a brand new one within a few months of a release?

I think it’s suitable for them to push two series of devices each year, one at the beginning and one at the end, then it keeps profits high for HTC and people don’t have to wait forever for newer designs.
That being said, it also screws over the consumer big time.

HTC needs to stop making these tablets and focus on the smartphone market instead.

It’s not too soon, especially if it’s a note competitor. what it needs:
on-screen buttons
sd card slot
removable battery
better multitasking, not hampered by a skin
then it will be a contender

Pretty sure the SGS3 Killed HTC in sales which is why HTC abandoned their statement about releasing fewer phones. I think the biggest problem was keeping it on one carrier (Rogers in Canada, ATT in USA) for such a long time. I love my SGS3 from Bell.

It is too soon in a normal situation but they really need it. The One X had some huge problems that need to fix. Especially the ram in the North American version.
If the One X wasn’t so crappy then it would be too soon but from someone burned by the One X like me, it is not soon enough.

The only thing stopping me from buying a new HTC phone is the lack of memory. Sometimes I go out and listen to music on my phone at the cottage, where signal is pretty shaky, so I don’t want to rely on dropbox, and run up my data usage, I want it on my phone. SD card is a must. Look at Samsung upgradable to 64 gb card. That is just awesome.

If it doesn’t have a removable battery or SD card, they should just give up. Samsung proved that you don’t have to compromise on design or thinnest to have a removable cover.
