One of the latest features to arrive on most Canadian banking apps is mobile cheque deposits. This allows customers to avoid visiting a bank by depositing a cheque from their smartphone or tablet.
We’ve already seen CIBC, TD Canada Trust, Tangerine (formerly known as ING Direct), and several credit unions roll out this feature, and now PC Mobile is hopping on board.
PC Financial’s banking services are provided by CIBC and mobile cheque deposits work the same way across both banks’ apps. All you need is an iOS or Android device (running iOS 6/Android 4.0 or higher) with a camera. Use this device to snap a picture of both sides of the cheque, then enter the dollar amount, and click submit.
RBC previously noted that they intend to rollout mobile cheque deposits sometime this month but has yet to confirm a release date.
