HTC is poised to officially unveil their next flagship smartphone on March 25th. This currently goes by the codename of the “M8″ and the go-to-market name is expected to be “The All New HTC One.”

A plethora of specs, pictures and videos have surfaced online and the main attribute is the dual cameras. Other rumoured specs of the all-aluminum device are said to include a 5-inch 1080p display, run KitKat with Sense 6.0 and pack a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.

With this being HTC’s “primary flagship for 2014,” one would expect the majority of Canadian carriers to add this to their lineup in the coming weeks. We can confirm, via an official press rendering, that TELUS is on board to release the all-new HTC One. We’re still working on the learning more about an official release and pricing.

More soon…
(Thanks tipster!)

Why are the bezels so big?

    • E

for you to go buy a s4+

    • Bri Bru

      Or a G2

    • potato

Bezels help ensure you don’t accidentally touch the screen.

    • OMFCody

I agree with that, but there’s no need of the huge bottom bezel and top one.

  • Super_Deluxe

Wow this looks ugly compared to the first One. I would definitely go for the Z2 if I was currently on the market for a new phone.

    • KiwiBri

really going to be the camera that sways me.. I do like Sense though.. but Sony’s Android looks ok..

    • Bri Bru

I do too except for some of the icons.. the size feel inconsistent

    • Plazmic Flame

      Waiting for the next One…

    • southerndinner

Sure hope reliability wouldn’t be at the top of priorities if you wanted a Z2

  • talarico

I personally really like how it looks. A very sleek looking device.
I just wish it was wider rather than taller. The 1st gen HTC One (a phone I currently own) is already a pretty tall device. This new ‘M8′ appears to be even taller.
If it doesn’t have a larger battery and better camera performance, I won’t even consider it.

Any word on the rumored battery capacity? I really hope the dual camera lens equates to much better picture quality. We’ll all know pretty soon.

I wonder what the Canadian carriers will sell it for? I think $199/2yr is reasonable.

    • Dimitri

Its more taller as they moved to on screen buttons. The Screen is most likely 5′ if not 5’1 inches.

I would love if someone leaked out the battery info & what the second camera does but it seems this may not only a few days before the announcement or the day off.

Most likely $199-$249 on a 2 year term if that. They most likely will not price it any higher then $249 or $200 at that.

    • Sascha WerwilldasWissen

It looks like it’s going to be 2800mAh and on camera side you have one UltraPixel cam for dark environment and zoe. And also a 13mp + cam for outside shots in daylight for more detail.

    • Dimitri

The battery should realistically be 3,000mAh. 2800mAh is not bad but a little more juice is always best.

That camera looks nice & all. Hopefully it does well as this is going to be my final choice. I reserved the S5 ( #9 with Rogers), looking for the Z2 & HTC M8. Hopefully the HTC M8 is something that WOWs me pur say.

    • KiwiBri

Likewise, I have a S5 on reserve, but as the days have come by Its less likely I will actually get that device. The 2013 One has a battery of 2300 mAh. If this was 3000 it would be great but I think I heard 2800 as well. If it can do fast focus shots, slow motion video and the like then we may have the phone for me. SD card and 32GB as standard is a good thing HTC!

    • Dimitri

Agreed. If the rumors are true & it does have a SD card slot & 32GB i will indeed get it. 13MP camera is just fine as my Note 3 has that & takes amazing pictures.

    • ITCanWork

      It’s gonna have 3100mah

    • ITCanWork

      3100mah is the battery capacity.

  • Dimitri

So i am guessing the LED Notification light is still underneath those holes for the speakers? Also it looks like they are using stainless steel OR grey metal for the frame. The lock / power botton seems more bigger / taller which is great. On the right hand side you can see a little hole on the frame which is for the Sim card.

  • David Foggia

You guys see the M8 “dot case”? that looks cooler than the phone itself

    • KiwiBri

yeah, saw the post on evleaks. Looks interesting.

  • McNucklefuts

I’m really hopeful the bezel does something. Like maybe the HTC logo is a finger print scanner?
I don’t have high hopes for that… as nothing has been rumoured.
But wow do we not need that stupid black bar…

    • Umer Farooq

Though I agree with you about the size of that chin; but if they want to keep those front facing speakers, that space is needed for screen and speaker connectors.

FYI: If you see the comparison in the leaked video with old ONE, the m8 is just a hair taller which is not a bad thing at all!

    • McNucklefuts

Thats fair, I don’t know much if anything about speaker technology and how the insides need to look for that. My assumption is that they need that extra space for some battery or other components because the speakers go so deep. I could be wrong.
Honestly I am just having trouble thinking of whether I want to pick this guy up, or wait to see what Motorola brings in late summer.

  • Tek

Sony Xperia Z2 or HTC 1(v2) ??! Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!!!!!!

    • Bri Bru

      Nexus 5! Lol

    • ITCanWork

      Note 3

  • Rich

Looks like Sony will have it this year from what we’ve seen from Samsung / HTC.

    • southerndinner

Sony is going to sell poorly because salespeople don’t trust their brand. After seeing all the Z1s come back for warranty exchanges and how many sony considered to be ‘out of warranty’ especially.

  • bembol

Samsung and hTc may have done Sony a favour.

I know I’m passing on this. That is ugly.

    Z2.

    • Dimitri

I am hoping the Z2 comes to the big 3 & little ones as well. From what i am thinking tho, the carriers may wait after the release if the S5 / The HTC M8 & then release it. This way people would have already bought the S5 & The New HTC One so whoever is waiting for the Z2 gets it. This is how i see it but i could be wrong.

I do want the Z2 to get released tho. I would switch & get it if it does before the release of the S5 & The HTC M8.

    • KiwiBri

carriers will artificially make a big deal on certain devices.. ie.iPhone and Samsung phones because of the marketing those company’s already have done… easy money for carriers. Especially now with the embeded Samsung and iPhone areas within BestBuy etc. I Wish Sony pushed their gear more in Nth America. The closure of 1000 stores in the US is disappointing.

Only the phone fanatics like us usually can see through the smoke and mirrors

    • ITCanWork

I love how everyone is judging on the look of it. So superficial. You’re gonna Slap a fracking case on it, on z2 Ur gonna have to open and close flaps all the time unless u really want the waterproof, then this shouldn’t have even been an option. Plus the z1 got returned so many times already. I personally am a happy Samsung customer, on my 3rd device now (note 3), if u don’t count the old Samsung flip phones I had. Don’t judge on the look of it, put a case on it any which way. An ultra slim one at least.

  • trent407

The piece of plastic the logo is on isn’t able to be removed, as the digitizer tech is underneath, attached directly to the bottom of the screen. On the S4 and many other phones this doesn’t matter, but for the M8 the speakers are underneath so that bezel must be there. HTC is thinking more people value onscreen buttons over a smaller bezel.

  • KiwiBri

Sense is way better than the TouchWiz of Samsung.

BTW – I wonder if the M8 will support any of this trend to do “knock on”

    • Abdul B

Loll thats what I always ask myself, does samsung actually have any designers because their devices are just too ugly.

  • Mohamed Abdourahman

Koodo better get this phone. Only major carrier not to carry this phone.

  • Abdul B

The amount of people who complain about the bezel is too damn high!!

  • KiwiBri

Found out some other details… I hope the info on the 4MP camera is not correct.

The all new HTC One features support for Moto X-style “always
listening” software. That means you can control your phone without
touching it by asking questions like “OK Google Now, what time is it?”
or issuing commands like OK Google Now, set an alarm for 2:00″ without
    unlocking the screen first.

There’s also support for lock-screen gestures that let you do things
like swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open your last app
    without first unlocking the device.

On the back of the phone there are two camera lenses (as seen in
many leaked photos and press shots of the phone). These are used for
depth perception — not only do the dual lenses help you adjust the focus
of the picture before snapping a photo, but you can actually adjust the
focus after taking a picture. The camera allegedly has the same 4MP “ultrapixel” camera as the original HTC One.

Like the first-gen HTC One, the new phone has stereo front-facing
speakers, but they’re said to be even louder and better sounding.

    • talarico

Yeah, I heard the M8 would have the same 4mp “ultrapixel” camera. (which is a little disappointing in all honesty) I hope it has better performance at least.
Just waiting to hear what the battery capacity will be.

I still think I’m leaning towards the Z2. On paper, the specs are superior to the M8 (rumored) & the Samsung S5. IMO.

    • KiwiBri

just saw some more photos on gsm arena. Photos comparing it to HTC One Max. That camera better be amazing HTC. Good to see they improved the volume buttons. They were bad on the One 2013

  • KID ANDROID

Love the All new one, it looks even better than the original and will feel so great in the hand with those rounded edges. I wasn’t a huge fan of the sharp edges on the original.
This really reminds me of R2D2 which is IMO a really cool look.

It will have the Snapdragon 801 or 805 not the 800
