Periscope ‘Go Live’ button to be integrated into Twitter’s Android app

Twitter acquired Periscope last year for approximately $100 million USD. The app first launched on iOS and Android and has amassed well over 20 million users since launch.

When the company celebrated its first birthday, it announced that over 200 million broadcasts have been created and over 110 years of live video are watched every day via its iOS and Android app

According to a report in The Verge, Periscope for Android will be integrated within Twitter’s platform to help the live streaming app increase engagement and adoption. A “Go Live” button will first rollout to “a small percentage of users” then eventually become widely available to all Android and iOS users.

In a statement, Periscope notes, “We’re rolling out a ‘Go Live’ button in Twitter to a small percentage of users. Over time, all users will have the ability to start a Periscope broadcast from Twitter.”

Combined with last week’s introduction of permanent broadcasts and search, Twitter and Periscope are showing that they can move fast, too.
