Apple quietly stops selling the original iPad mini

iPad Mini

After a two-and-a-half year run, Apple has quietly delisted the original iPad mini.

Released in 2012, the mini took the internals of the iPad 2, now more than four years old, and put them into a more portable package. It’s successor, the iPad Mini 2, brought with it a faster processor, more memory, and a higher resolution display. Prior to being delisted, the Mini was priced at $279 in Canada.

Despite the fact that it’s no longer being sold, the original iPad mini will still receive an update to iOS 9, though it won’t get the handy multi-tasking features that are coming to its more capable siblings.
