Instagram has added a number of new features to both its Android and iPhone apps today, bringing the version to 4.1.

For Android users, those on Ice Cream Sandwich will be happy to know that they can upload videos now. This was previously limited to Jelly Bean and above, so another 22.5% (bringing the total to over 60% of all Android users) can take advantage of the new feature.

Instagrammers can now upload videos from their existing video pool, much like it’s been possible for users to upload and crop existing photos. Filters and cropping, as well as basic edits, can be applied directly in the app.

iPhone users can also take advantage of a new auto-straightening feature for photos that will make the horizon seem a bit less skewed. This is not available on Android devices at launch, but we’re hoping Instagram is able to port it over, as it’s a great an essential feature.
