Twitter for Windows Phone strides for platform parity as photo filters come to latest release

Twitter for Windows Phone 8 got a lovely redesign earlier this year, and for a while was likely the best-looking official version among the major platforms. Adhering to a very Modern UI-centric look and feel, the app struck the right balance between brand recognition and Windows Phone fluidity.

Though it has been updated several times since its release, Twitter is finally pushing out a major upgrade today. On board are photo filters and Lens support; users can add one of eight preset filters to a photo, either from within the app or the Camera Roll. There is no Aviary SDK integration here, however, so you won’t be able to crop, rotate or fix photos from within the app like you can on iOS and Android.

Users can also play Vine videos from the Timeline, but there’s no indication Twitter is going to add a Vine app to the party anytime soon. There are some more performance improvements and bug fixes in this release, so grab your Windows Phone and get downloading.
