Sony Xperia Z is water resistant and has a “Skeleton frame structure”

Additional pictures have surfaced online of Sony’s upcoming Xperia Z. This is the 5-inch Android that packs a quad-core processor and a 13MP camera. According to a post on XperiaBlog they note a few more features on the flagship – apparently it’ll be water resistant (similar to the Xperia S Tablet), the “fast capture” camera will sport HDR (High dynamic range) capabilities for your pics and videos, a “Full HD Reality display”, and the craftsmanship of the Xperia Z body is a “Skeleton frame structure”.

Sony’s CES press conference is happening on January 7th and will most likely be officially revealing the Xperia Z. We’ll bring you all the details and hands-on. No word on prices or carrier launches.

Launching with Gingerbread – Will receive no updates

    • til-bar

…also featuring names like “skeleton frame” and “reality display” to sound innovative!

    • JPTN

^ Can’t think of anything creative; spews the same outdated crap.

Sony is XDA’s OEM of the year for a reason…

    • seroevo

      @til-bar

Right, because no one does that. Not Samsung (Super AMOLED) or Apple (Retina) or Google themselves for sure.

    • til-bar

^ Sony’s relationship with XDA and developers has very little to do with the everyday consumer.

The feature branding by Sony is meaningless.

    • til-bar

@seroevo – absolutely true. Feature branding is ubiquitous.

My younger sister about a year ago told me “I want an iCloud”

    • LOL

Apparently will receive the “update” to Ice Cream Sandwich in “the second half of the year”

The Sony Xperia Z will enter the arena with other phones with 5” 1080p screens this year but it also puts Sony into the quad-core race with its Qualcomm APQ8064 Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset. The Z will come out with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean at launch.

…enter the area with other manufacturers that have a proven track record, which Sony does not have. I would take an equally spec’d Samsung, HTC, LG, Asus any day of the week.

But wait, it has a Skeleton Frame!

    • til-bar

      yeah, it does look nice

  • Nothin But RIM

    Clean looking phone.

  • Eduardo

Doesn’t matter what others say, it is a very nice looking phone; very worthy to be considered. Now, if they could only get rid of their own bloatware and update more quickly…

  • screamer

Agree need to get updates fasten but we are talking about sony where I expect a bit more software innovation. Like PlayStation support and cross playing would be great to have a controller support as well

  • robbers

    Nice design

  • noonan

I like some of Sony’s “bloatware” least its actually useful.
Best remote app out there. The other stuff I don’t care for much.

  • Dan

I really like the look of this phone and Sony’s style in general. This look would be a beautiful canvas for 2013′s Nexus offering.

    • Eduardo

YES! Give me an Xperia Nexus Z!

  • Gman

release the ZL for windmobile, god damn sony.
