Toronto Patio Guide app for iPhone now available to download

BlogTO has re-imagined itself as a portal for all the relevant happenings in Toronto, from food to music to movies to politics.

But everyone knows that during the summer it is food and drinks we’re most worried about, and just before the August long weekend the publication has released its latest foray into mobile apps with the Toronto Patio Guide. Developed by Toronto’s Halogen Mobile, the patio guide is an extremely powerful example of what can be done with a clean, simple interface and lots of great data.

There are hundreds, perhaps thousands, of patios in the city, and BlogTO claims to have an up-to-date record of which beers are on tap, what time the place is open until, whether the patio is covered, and more. You can easily favourite places you want to refer to later, and get driving directions using Google Maps’ excellent mobile web service.

There’s also a transition animation when you choose to share a location, with the usual suspects available — Twitter, Facebook, email and SMS.

No word on an Android app, but if you’re a Torontonian and want some location-specific advice on where to drink in the waning months of the summer, download the Toronto Patio Guide for iPhone here.
