Rogers and Fido have been selling the Samsung Galaxy Nexus since January 10th, but the “official” launch date for this OS 4.0 powered device is on January 13th – this is when you’ll see it listed online. However, it seems the Rogers price plans have been slightly revised (changes are marked in red in the above screenshot). The outright price for the Galaxy Nexus is $599.99, but the no-term/month-to-month and 1-year are now marked as $574.99. The 2-year contract price comes in at $525.99 and the 3-year stays the same at $159.99.

Has anyone managed to actually buy a Galaxy Nexus from Rogers? Are they already selling it at some stores? I went to the store and they wouldn’t sell it to me, they said they couldn’t until Friday even though they had 50 in stock. When I called customer support they told me they didn’t even have a date yet.

why did you call customer support? They said a couple days ago that the launch day for Rogers was the 13th, so why were you surprised when you couldn’t get it at the store?

I picked up my 2 phones yesterday that came through the reservation system. Just like the iPhone 4S 16 GB it is $209.99 minus the $50.00 MIR to bring it down to $159.99

Geez.. why do they do this crap? On top of all the other s**t they do.. $50 MIR and you don’t get the tax back..

Did you start an new 3-yr contract or do a hardware upgrade?
did you pay any other charges beside the $159?
I am coming to a Rogers store to pick up my reservation, so kind of wonder, yet not decide to do or not

This is where the government needs to step in… The 1 and 2 year pricing is pure rip off. No… Robber, you need to do some serious revision!

For everyone complaining about 1 and 2 year prices.. Are you even surprised? Have they ever done decent 1 or 2 year pricing?
I think the important thing about this is the no term / MTM pricing for 2 reasons:
1 – $575 to buy it without contract (cheapest so far)
2 – With the new cancellation policy starting jan 22, you’ll effectively be getting a smaller subsidy since the no term price is less, and will have a lower price if you have to cancel down the road.

One got to wonder why Rogers has its new cancellation policy comes effective Jan 22. They can make sure they can screw as many people as possible. A lot of people are buying during the holiday season and Rogers likes to do a final rip off!

I like how they’re marketing the 3-Yr price as a ‘promo’. I’m in no hurry, I’ll wait until that $159.99 drops to $99.99.

Picked one up at carrefour laval in laval(obviously) yesterday. I initially called rogers at carrefour laval first, theysaid yes we have it we’ve been selling it since tuesday. As i walked through the mall i saw a bestbuy kiosk. I asked about the nexus she said yeah we have it. I also asked about 99.99 price, she said it was for new clients not existing ones. Anyway i got it at 209, minus 50 dollar mail in rebate. It is not 159 minus 50….

I bought the phone yesterday from Rogers on Saint Catherine. They seemed to have a lot in stock. I am returning it today though…a bit disappointed that the phone overheats even when it is not charging, I could barely rest it on my ear to talk.
Also, there is still no facebook syncing available, so all your contacts show no pictures as facebook app didnt update to ice cream sandwich. Adding widgets became a longer task than what it used to be, I prefer just clicking on the home screen and adding my widgets.
Ice cream sandwich seems to be nice, but still not 100% ready to be used in my opinion, and ive used android for a year now.
The biggest reason for my decision to return the phone is that i purchased it because I am pissed off that HTC takes forever to give upgrades for my desire z. So I thought if I get the galaxy nexus, I would be worry free and I would get all the OTA updates straight when they come out…well…WRONG! The nexus I have is 4.0.1, and apparently the overheating issue got solved in 4.0.2 update but my phone will NOT update.
Reason being: all galaxy nexus coming into canada will NOT receive updates from google, but instead from samsung. So the update to 4.0.2 and 4.0.3 have been out for weeks, but samsung didnt release them to canada for some retarded reason. Thus, no updates, and back to same issue as if I am dealing with HTC. Might as well just go replace the phone and get the galaxy s2 LTE as it was offered for half the price of the nexus and will be upgrades to ice cream sandwich in due time.
I am very disappointed regarding the update process and how its not google that will send me the updates but instead samsung. Dont believe me google it, also, if you get a nexus and you wanna know if you will get updates from google or samsung, you can download the GN Official Update app from the market and it will let you know.
Hope this helps.

Hey Jad,
I think you can manually update ICS as well. I just came across this

Hey Jad,
The 4.0.2 update for GSM versions of the phone was actually stopped by google a while back. It was once again started yesterday so the phone should be able to get the update in next couple days. Also 4.0.3 update was only released to the open source project but never to the nexus.

Hey Nitin,
Thanks for the info, however I did look online and the 4.0.2 update was released on december the 16th and I didnt read anywhere that it was stopped. Again, even if google releases the updates, I won’t get them as samsung needs to release them in Canada. Google unfortunately has no control over the updates in canada for some reason…
Guys, you must also pay a 35 dollar upgrade fee on top of the regular price of the phone…forgot to mention that. Thanks rogers!

159.99 for 3 year + tax + ridiculous value phone plan…
I’m paying about 50 bucks for my 100mb data + all the other jazz plan from Rogers. When I get the Nexus, I know I will be using data much more. No thanks, Rogers. I don’t want to be stuck with you for 3 more years.

I don’t understand the difference between “device sale” and “no term”. I plan to buy this tomorrow without a contract and if I can get it for $575 I’ll be quite happy; when I was in the Orlando for Christmas no one would sell it for less than $800.

The difference is, “no-term” requires a month-to-month contract + credit check. So, you actually set the plan up and they require 30 days notice to cancel the contract. Device sale means an over the counter purchase, wham-bam-thank-you-mam.

I called the Courtenay BC rogers store today and the lady told me that she got an email from Rogers head office telling them the release will be the 14th and not to sell before then. Campbell River BC store said they don’t even have them yet.

I reserved my nexus and got a call this morning from my store telling me it was in. Went down, the guy didn’t seem to know much about the phone. It wasn’t in the system, and after talking to the manger told me I wouldn’t be able to get it till tomorrow.
So hopefully tomorrow I can walk out of there with a new nexus

I accidentally bought the Nexus S before the “official” release date. Most stores are only really picky about iPhone launch dates. People work on commission, they’ll usually sell what they have if it’s in the system and they aren’t instructed otherwise in the Sales Central bulletins.

Do you mean you have to pay $35 to Rogers to get updates from Samsung? Never heard this before.

Hmm strange, I picked up a Galaxy Nexus yesterday from a Rogers Plus location for $0.01 ($50.01 – $50 MiR) and a 3 year contract of course. This was not a new activation, just a hardware upgrade.

I called AirSource first and they said they didn’t have it and likely wouldn’t be carrying it (weird, I know).. So then I called the Rogers Plus store and asked if they had any. The guy said that they do (I don’t think anyone bought one before me). So I drove over and they got it out of the back room and asked me for my info.
I said that I’m doing a HUP.. The girl that was working said that there were 6 entries in the system for Galaxy Nexus, all at different prices and she wasn’t sure which one she was supposed to choose. So then she called the Rogers people with her dealer code and they said that she can do the $50.01 with the rebate (oh and of course the $35 administrative fee).
Then when she was doing my contract renewal, the system had another error, so she had to call in again and then do a manual contract renewal (meaning I had to sign on paper). None of my terms were changed of course (note: I have a retentions plan), and then I filled out the little paper for the mail-in-rebate and walked out with my phone!
Was really surprised that they gave it to me for 1 cent, especially after calling into Rogers HQ and confirming it.

Any guys have the Model Code of Rogers Galaxy Nexus?
I can only see the Model number GT-i9250M.
( Rogers suck as usual! Exhausted!Just finished speaking with Rogers Reps, spent me 1.5 hours to get the $10 credit for my $25 500MB data plan.
what a great trap Rogers set!
Last summer Rogers rep called me to offer me $15 500MB data plan, no matter if I do hardware upgrade – I never did since 2004.
Yesterday I went to pick up my booked Galaxy Nexus, did the hardware upgrade, applied the $25 500MB data plan(was told to call Rogers to claim the $10 credit).
Today when I called Rogers, the rep refused to give me that Credit. I was frustrated at first – because she told me if I had called with my new phone for over 30 minutes, then I cannot return it! That is on the paperwork – anyone got through the whole fine print? I doubt it. I had used the phone calling *611 almost 30 minutes. I Had to cut the talk immediately.
After thinking through, I gave up. had to call 1866 number again to discuss my concern. I spent another hour, and eventually a lady told I was eligible to get the credit.
Swear to GOD, I won’t go with Rogers after this term!
