Samsung to unveil the Nexus Prime at CTIA on October 11th?

The next version of Google’s Nexus handset is rumoured to be called the Nexus “Prime” and also the “Galaxy Nexus”. Whatever its name it’ll be made by Samsung and just might officially be announced at the upcoming CTIA event in October. There are a couple clues leading towards this possibility. Samsung has scheduled their next “Unpacked” event for October 11th, plus under awards section under the “Gamer & Entertainment Enthusiast” category it shows there will be “A product to be announced from Samsung Mobile”.

The 3rd Nexus device will run Android OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (also rumoured to be released in October), come with a 4.65-inch display with 720p HD resolution, 1.5 GHz dual core processor – which is good for gaming… so all the basic specs are covered and now we’re just missing are the usual leaks and official word.

FA * CT: The keyboards on the BB bold and the bb curve are bigger than the low-res screens.

      Have a wonderful evening everybody!!

    • Vinay

How do you even know that? You are comparing two unreleased products. Wait for confirmed specs and OS changes for both devices then start arguing.

    • Jay

      More like Nexus Prime > S2 > iphone 5

  • Hooty

Wouldn’t Google be the one unveiling it?

    • Me Ted

Probably, but in conjunction with Samsung.

      Two words: can’t wait.

  • ELNY

    Just unveil it already!!

  • HTCmachine

    AMAZING!
I am selling my Sensation for this BadBoy!!
Sick of Bell taking their sweet a*s time just to update it to 2.3.4

  • Kenny

    “Well that’s just prime.”

Having gone through the years with the One and S, it’s only natural that I follow up with the Prime.

  • DarkisFever

    One word. Yay!

  • Damien

There has been some talk on some sources, that the next Nexus phone, and the Prime are actually 2 different phones, so if this is the just Samsung… probably not the next Nexus…

  • Cmr

    @Sean

Neither phone has been announced so how do you have any clue which one is better.

  • Kapoue

Since when is Ice Cream Sandwich numbered 4.0? Did I miss something, I thought it was 2.4.

    • STU

SOMETHING LIKE HUNNYCOME IS 3.0 ADN ICE CREME IS 4.0
      OR MAYBE SOMETHINGS LIKE THAT.

    • Souken

Yes, you are correct. A lot of people are mistaking what Ice Cream Sandwich really is. Because Honeycomb, a new OS that was built from scratch just for tablets, is Android OS 3.x a lot of people assumed that the new Ice Cream Sandwich, which should put an end to fragmentation, would follow sequentially and be 4.x. However, the sequential numbering it actually follows is the mobile OS numbers because that’s what it is, so it will follow Froyo’s 2.2 and Gingerbread’s 2.3 to be Android OS Ice Cream Sandwich 2.4.

  • hinds

The next Nexus galaxy or prime will be of the chains with ics innards .

  • EmperumanV

    Can’t wait :)

  • SparklingCyaNide

    Man, I really hope so! – D

There are reports the new TI OMAP SoC is delayed on the Archos Tablet (uses the same as the Nexus Prime). however, no one knows if the reason is either the SoC has a ‘show-stopper’ bug or if the Nexus Prime is taking up the supply. Also, another report that the HD screen might not making (hope that’s a false rumor).

For myself, it has to have the HD screen for me to buy. If not, there’s Galaxy Note!

    I’m pretty sure NP > iph5

    • zippy

Is it the TI OMAP 4460? If so, it’s going to include the SGX540 which is not as powerful as the SGX543MP2 used in the A5. Which means the iPhone 5 WILL have a FASTER GPU than the next Nexus Device. But, I still think the Nexus Prime is going to be awesome.

    Have a wonderful evening everyone!

  • Peters

Larger, bigger, better news then the iPhone 5

  • Jay

My HTC Desire is better than the iphone 5

  • Andy

Any news on whether Rogers will be getting this and if so anyone have an idea of when? I am still waiting to find out when they will be getting the SGS II…..I am so sick of waiting…every other carrier has had theirs for months…If they keep putting it off I may as well get the Prime…Common Rogers …get your a*s in gear…

  • Ann Monis

All I want is that the phone be released on all carriers at the same time and all over the world.

    Can you please do that?

  • Anthony

Why do phones keep getting bigger and bigger? This is idiotic! They don’t even fit in my pocket anymore

  • Donovan

In my shirt pocket, my Captivate could be an inch wider and it would still fit. People want larger screens on their phones for the same reason they are buying large screen TVs. When was the last time you heard someone say, “The best feature is the small screen that fits in my abnormally tiny shirt pockets!” Ask the ladies: bigger is better. :)
