Finally! A big congratulations to everyone over at MTS! Today is the day their new “4G” network was officially turned on. Big news for all their customers (and future customers) too as this brings greater coverage, faster download speeds (up to 21Mbps) and more handsets: BlackBerry Bold 9780, Torch 9780, Curve 9300, Apple iPhone 4 (coming soon), Nokia C6-00, Nokia Surge and the Motorola SPICE.
MTS President Kelvin Shepherd said “Our new high-speed 4G network offers MTS customers faster and more reliable service as well as more wireless device choices. Looking to the future, our investment in 4G technology will allow us to focus on delivering more services that meet our customers’ evolving needs – such as programming your MTS Ultimate TV PVR with your MTS smartphone.”

I think this is the biggest 4G bullshit created by a carrier?? which phone of these supports more than 7.2 mbps download speeds?? none of them. so why claim the 4G speeds if no phone can support it.

Soooo their HSPA+ Network? Such a load of crap they call that 4G.
Sub-Joker the Galaxy S II will be capable of 21.1mps but I wouldn’t even consider that 4G.
Sadly Rogers is the only legit company to hold off on this “4G” crap till they are running LTE

It’s the same idea with HSPA+ where for the longest time there were no actual devices running it, yet everyone claiming they had it (when at least 1 of the big 3 lied about having it
).

HSPA+ is great… if you release a phone that supports it as well. None of their launch phones, including the iPhone, support full speed HSPA+. People will try it and say it’s about the same as they’ve seen. Cause it is.
I know that I’ll personally be getting a SIM, and using a real HSPA+ phone from the US. Anyone else?

I’m interested in the Rogers Rocket Hub. Right now they are HSPA, not HSPA+. Does anyone know if they will be upgrading these and if so, when? Thanks

MTS launched a new plan, the Talk & Browse plan for the Nokia devices, $30, has 250mb data, 200 minutes, unlimited local calls to 5 numbers, 100 texts. Not bad, for MTS

Does anyone know when they’re going to get new, er, “dumb phones”? .. My dad is on MTS and refuses to pay the amount that smartphones cost – but their lineup of regular phones is total s**t… and his contract has been up for 2 years, he’d like to upgrade sometime.
