Samsung Galaxy Tab being released by Bell on November 12th

The other day it was revealed on Bell’s retail chain The Source that the shipping date of the Samsung Galaxy Tab is “Expected to ship by November 16th, 2010″ for “$649.95. Thanks to an internal doc that shows this new Android 2.2 OS tablet will actually be available on November 12th. No word on other price plans but Rogers will be releasing the Tab also on the following price plans (so we can expects Bell to be similar): Outright is $674.99; 1-year is $599.99; 2-year is $564.99 and the 3-year is $539.99.

Who’s going to get one?

  1. Complete BS. Galaxy S phones are going for $150 on three year term and they have Super AMOLED screens. What justifies the $540 price tag on a three year contract for the Galaxy Tab? Probably cost about the same to produce as the Galaxy S’s.

    • It’s because these won’t sell with a $50 voice+data plan.
They will sell with a $15 data only plan. The margin is obviously not the same. If not (if they want a $50 plan) then you are totally right.

  6. I’d rather get a nice Netbook and a Wind internet stick for the same price.

  7. The price tag on-contract V.S. better hardware in mobile hardware for cheaper without a contract makes this unnecessary niche market’s death a self-fulfilling prophecy.
