Pat Prefontaine gives you tips to maximize your mobile potential

TELUS has created a guy named Pat Prefontaine who’s kind of a got charisma of a George Clooney but the knowledge of Tony Robbins for Canadian wireless. He dishes out tips of how we can all maximize our mobile potential. Clearly it’s another way for TELUS to talk about their network coverage, reliability and the HTC Desire… but it’s got some good one-liners his 5 step process: Embrace Change, Never Compromise, Nurture Relationships, Broaden Your Horizons and Be Confident.

  4. As mentioned, it looks like they copied the Old Spice videos, and then threw in a dash of “Chuck Norris” for good measure.

  8. First off, stupid idea by Telus (what else is new). I and most people I know hate the Old Spice ads.

Second, I “got” to learn how to write as well as the person that wrote this article.

  9. “Hello ladies. Look at your man; now back to me; now back at your man; now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped using ladies’ scented Rogers Wireless and switched to Telus Mobility, he could smell like hes me”

    And remember, I’m Pat Prefontaine

  10. Oh! Oh! I remember whan I tried to Embrace Change!!!

I signed a three-year Telus contract on a smartphone, so that I could have web browsing and email access on the road here in Manitoba.

A month into the contract, Telus’s data service disappeared, province wide. And never came back.

Telus wouldn’t let me out of my contract, because “the service is subject to CHANGE”, and “disappearing altogether” is one such CHANGE.

    The Telus dictionary:

Embrace Change – Just accept it and keep paying, when Telus’s service changes (disappears) a month into your contract.

Never Compromise – Because Telus won’t. Just do what they tell you.

Nurture Relationships – Telus-speak for a prison rape.

Broaden Your Horizons – Sign up with Rogers.

Be Confident – Never go back.

  14. All cellphone companies are evil in my opion (wasn’t always the case) but Telus sure seems EVIL to me.

I quote from wikpedia (this is only the stuff that IS documented officially!)

“Telus’ labour dispute with the Telecommunications Workers Union (TWU) began after the previous contract, negotiated with BCTel before the Telus merger, expired at the end of 2000. After Telus made its final offer to the TWU, it informed the union of its intention to bring an end to the dispute by unilaterally implementing its April offer to employees in Alberta and British Columbia. The next day, the union walked off the job and was subsequently locked out by the company.

On July 25, 2005, Telus blocked its Internet subscribers from accessing a website supporting locked out union members. The company expressed concerns over content on the site, saying it identified employees crossing picket lines and encouraged disruptive behaviour,[9] while the union alleged it amounted to censorship.[9][10] The British Columbia Civil Liberties Association issued an official objection to the unilateral blocking on July 26, stating “Telus is leveraging its power as a telecommunications service provider to censor a specific group, shut down debate and limit the messages conveyed about the current labour dispute”.[11] An Alberta court injunction ordered the blocked website, Voices For Change, to remove postings of “Telus employee photos” and other “intimidating or threatening material”. The site owner agreed to comply and Telus unblocked the website.[12] Telus and the TWU ratified a tentative agreement on November 18, 2005, ending the dispute”

  15. another “brought to you by telus”

In July 2008, along with Telus Mobility Bell introduced charges of 15¢ for incoming SMS messages. Critics were quick to point out that there is no way of blocking incoming message fees and suggested Bell and Telus were price fixing as both had announced the fees simultaneously.[12] Bell (and Telus) are now being sued by frustrated consumers and subscribers, as they demand change in text charges.[13] Many customers were frustrated because this fee also apply to existing customers with ongoing contracts.[14]
    [edit]

Rogers does it too, but guess who started it, read above thanks bell/telus who share network in bc or ontario

by the way I’ve heard and been told Bell and Telus share towers in Ontario and BC so i find this ad laughable.

  16. p.s. I have confirmed/found that is indeed true Telus doesn’t evne have thier own “network coverage” what a joke.

at least rogers has their own network and as much as current coverage may be small/bad for wind/mobilicity/public mobile, at least they are primarily using their own network.

“Bell and Telus Corp. will share the wireless network, known high-speed packet access, or HSPA for short.”

  17. Why isn’t anyone comparing him to the Dos Equis guy and only to the Old Spice guy? Is it because they are both black? I like him. He loves dolphins!
