The “Coming Soon” label that has been placed on the Rogers Acer Liquid e is coming off soon. The internal doc that we received states that it launched today… but this will be arriving in stores and retail channels over the next few days. Pricing for this has been consistent to what we’ve said in the past:
3-year contract: $49.99
2-year contract: $274.99
1-year contract: $324.99
No contract: $424.99

Specs of the newest Android to come to Canada are that it runs OS 2.1, has a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 3.5-inch WVGA high-definition capacitive touch screen, 5 megapixel camera with video capabilities, WiFi, Full HTML browser, GPS, Bluetooth, 3.5mm headset jack, can hold up to 32GB with a microSD card. Overall dimensions are 116×54×12.75mm and weighs 135 grams.
Finally a decent Android device running a recent build.. Can’t say I’m a huge fan of Acer..or Rogers for that matter, and I was planning to hold out until Bell or Telus (hopefully) pick up the Samsung Galaxy S.. but this looks like a pretty nice package, and the fact it’s running a stock android build is pretty attractive. I’m no fan of these outdated custom motoblur/sony abominations

@ rzz it Actually Does have a Custom UI .
” Acer UI 3.0 ”
its technically Not stock android .
Acer UI is basically two widgets on tha edge of each far home screen you can kinda spin thru, Hardly classes as a UI IMO .
I aswell am no fan of Motoblur or TimeScape/MediaScape – But stock android is boring .
HTC Sence is by Far tha Best UI on WinMo or Android .
As Far as tha liquid e.. i would buy one if it was priced around $200 No term. Other then that not something i would rush out for..
Come on htc desire!!!
Oh i meen htc triumph lol

Can’t wait to hear the reviews.
Otherwise, it’s a toss up between this and the triumph.

ok so it’s technically stock android 2.1 but it’s definitely not far from it. I also intentionally didn’t include Sense UI in my list of “android abominations” because I agree it’s by far the best, and I’d definitely consider an HTC phone, though personally I’d rather have as little modified as possible so the updates will come out sooner. Hardware-wise this phone looks pretty nice, but with the Desire/Triumph, possibly the Incredible/Whatever they call it here on the way, and then maybe the Galaxy S at some point in the not too distant future.. I’m tempted to keep waiting.. but I’ve been putting off getting my first Android device for ages now and with the speed it’s progressing, it seems there will always be a better device right around the corner.

Great to see Android 2.1.
The first Eclair phone for Rogers phone! (Except the Nexus One which is available on all Canadian carriers).
This a cheap phone, but its one of the best choice for Canadian customer right now.

The Acer Stream has passed FCC and has the 850/1900 HSDPA NAM frequencies. Maybe Rogers will offer the Acer Stream in the coming months?

I have the Acer Liquid A1 running the 2.1 Eclair ROM and it’s a very nice device. High specs in a low-priced phone. Touchscreen is smooth, and there are tweaks for those advanced users too. I’ve rooted mine and removed most of the Acer crapware (which is pretty easy to do). The liquid Stream is barely an update in specs to the current liquid, I would suggest getting it now instead of always waiting for something better.

I don’t think I’d ever buy a phone made by Acer.

Just needs Android 2.2 Froyo and it would be perfect.

The Telus HTC Triumph is the Desire.
HTC Legend is lower spec’d and is going to Bell…
