Rogers strikes up deal to sell products in Shoppers Drug Mart

After being shunned from The Source it looks like Rogers and Fido have scored another place to sell their devices. Starting July 1, 2010 Rogers and Shoppers Drug Mart will start a pilot project and sell smartphones and Rocket Sticks in 30 select and unannounced locations.

Rob Bruce, President Communications at Rogers stated “Customers are telling us they want more choice for where they acquire Rogers and Fido products and services in their own neighbourhoods. Through this pilot initiative, Rogers and Fido customers will have access to innovative wireless products when they are shopping for their lifestyle needs.”

    Cellphones and condoms…

    (or for the older folks)
    Cellphones and heart meds…

Don’t really see the connection there, but ok…

  3. Really, so where exactly must I live to not be 10 minutes max from a rogers supplier? Sounds like they are modeling after Wind with 12am closes at bbv.

I think its a plot against potheads that go to a 24hr SDM at 2am for muchies.

Go in for cheetos, wake up the next morning locked in for 3years…

  4. did it occur to them to simply drop 3 year contracts and have reasonable rates, rather than expanding retail presents?

  5. Not like Rogers missing out on being on board with Source. Those annoying sales people try to you 18 different products when you’re purchasing something and after you’re done paying they STILL try and get your email for their newsletter.

  9. i’ve seen one sdm store that was selling rogers’s phones. but they were prepaid and on a separate display. so i think most sdm will be selling prepaid phones.

  10. @ anna: It would be smart to only sell prepaid but it says they will sell smartphones, likely requiring data.
