Thanks to member “466035″ in our Forum for pointing out that on the Nokia Canada site the Nokia X6 16GB now shows up as “Coming Soon”. No word on which carrier will launch the device, but the frequency bands are the following:
- WCDMA 900/1900/2100, GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900
- GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 (Latin America and Brazil variant only)
- WCDMA 900/1900/2100, GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, 2G QB (China variant)
Specs of the Nokia X6 16GB has a 3.2 inch capacitive touchscreen (resolution of 640 x 360), 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, Bluetooth 2.0, A-GPS, microUSB connector, integrated Wi-Fi, Nokia Ovi Maps, music player, 3.5mm headset jack, and Symbian S60 5th Edition OS. This will come in the following colours: White/Yellow, Black/Black and White/Pink.
Have your say on who’ll carry this in our Forum here
Also, check out the specs over at Nokia Canada
In order for this to work on anyone’s network, it has to have WCDMA 850 as well. Yes we have 1900 but with only one WCDMA band we’ll run into the same issue we had with Fido back in the day. It would work perfectly with Rogers and Fido though, but not exactly so on Telus and Bell/Virgin.

@Arshad
Actually, I’m not sure whether the “1900″ listed for non N.A. phones is the same as the 1900 (PCS) that the Canadian carriers support – I think they are referring to the uplink of Band I.
Also, note that the new carriers use 1700 / AWS / Band IV. So it is possible (though unlikely in this case) for them to bring the phone to N.A. without adding 850/1900.

Telus will pick it up..

Doubt Telus would get it. Telus hasn’t really carried any Nokia phones for a while. So maybe Bell or Rogers.

Let me see X6 should be called: back to the future with its Symbian S60 5th Edition OS.

I highly imagine it will be Rogers that will be carrying the phone.
I think that’s why Rogers has been trying to get rid of their 5800 XpressMusic stock. Dropping the price of a 3 year plan from $149 to $99 to $49 in the last quarter alone.
Cheers12, it’s not a smartphone. Well not in the eyes of Rogers.
