BlackBerry devices are in very short supply on Capitol Hill

One of BlackBerry’s main supporters has always been the U.S. government.

Business people and enterprises have long valued the security and stability of the hardware and software offered by the the Canadian company, even as that stability has slowly eroded in recent years. Though many Senators have moved on, BlackBerry’s smartphones are still regularly used by politicians in the U.S. capital, though BlackBerry 10 devices are beginning to show their age.

A notice sent out to Senate staff last week stated that since BlackBerry has discontinued the BlackBerry devices used by many staff, new devices won’t be available when current stock runs out.

Stock is already limited, and soon warranty exchanges will be the only thing supported by the current stockpile of 600 or so devices.
