Uber might have seen its share of controversy in 2015, especially here in Canada, but the San Francisco-based company is riding an emotional high going into 2016.

In a post on its official blog, the company today announced that it completed its 1 billionth ride on Christmas Eve in London’s Hackney borough. According to the company, the ride was completed with the help of a blue Honda Insight Hybrid.

To celebrate the milestone, the company is preparing to make a donation to a local charity that operates in the area where the ride occurred.

With new years celebrations happening across the world right now, and set to start soon here in in Canada, it’s fair to say that number will go up a fair bit in the next couple of hours.
