The latest integration between app and hardware is happening with a partnership between Meerkat and GoPro.
During VidCon, a conference for creators of online content, Meerkat said it would soon allow GoPro 3 and GoPro 4 owners to livestream through its iOS app. The Meerkat app is also available on Android but there was no indication of when the feature will be available.
Meerkat is in a race with Twitter’s Periscope to own the live streaming market. Both apps have topped well over 1 million downloads. Apart from everyday people using the live streaming apps, politicians have also hopped on board.
Former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton launched her 2016 presidential bid by Periscoping one of her speeches. On the other hand, sporting leagues such as Major League Baseball and the National Hockey League have either embraced or banned the app from stadiums.
