Expedia launches Expedia+ rewards program for Canadians with triple points for mobile bookings

Expedia for Android

Expedia.ca turns 15 years old this week and the company is celebrating its birthday with the launch of a brand new loyalty program for Canadian travellers. Dubbed Expedia+, this program launched last July in the United States and has now made its way north.

In essence, Expedia+ is a rewards and loyalty program that operates on a tiered system to offer perks to its most frequent users. There’s three different levels: +blue, +silver, and +gold. Users climb the ranks based on how many points they have and points are earned via flight and hotel bookings.

Different perks apply to the different tiers but users on all tiers will earn points on bookings that can then be redeemed towards future trips. Specifically, two points for every $1 spent on hotels, one point for every $5 spent on flights, and one point for every $1 spent on car+flight packages. What’s more, if you book using the Expedia mobile application, you’ll get triple points.

You can sign up for +blue right off the bat and you’ll reach the +silver tier when you spend $5,000 on eligible books or stay seven “qualifying hotel room nights.” The +gold level comes after $10,000 spent on eligible bookings or 15 nights in qualifying hotel rooms. Benefits include no blackout dates for travel bookings and free amenities, like spa discounts, at select +VIP Access hotels.
