Huawei opens office in Regina, celebrates by announcing the release of the Ascend Y300

Back in 2009 Huawei won the contract to help SaskTel build-out its HSPA+ wireless network. Then in 2012 the company came back to the table and assisted in launching SaskTel’s LTE network.

To show its ongoing commitment to the province and the carrier, Huawei has opened up a office in Regina. According to the release, the new office will serve as the sales and support hub for Huawei in the province.

Sean Yang, Huawei Canada President, stated “We are extremely proud of our partnership with SaskTel. The opening of our office today symbolizes the value we place in this relationship, and represents an important next step in our ongoing commitment to SaskTel and the Province of Saskatchewan.”

Huawei’s Scott Bradley informed us that the company will outfit the Regina office with 8 employees and hire contractors that will solely deal with SaskTel. In addition, Huawei now employs over 450 people in Canada, this includes about 250 people in Markham, 200 people at the Canada R&D Centre in Kanata and Montreal.

Huawei and SaskTel also announced that they will carry the Ascend Y300 on September 27th.
