Our Canadian carriers are on tap to release the Samsung Galaxy S III sometime “this Summer.” So far confirmation has come from TELUS, Rogers, Bell, Virgin, WIND, Mobilicity, SaskTel and Videotron. There’s still no word if regional carriers MTS, nor Fido or Koodo will have this available when it’s officially launched.

To keep the anticipation high on this Android, the 8 confirmed carriers above have in one form or another posted a “coming soon” or “pre-register” sign up page on their website. There’s still no price revealed but everything should be announced in the next month.

According to the Korea Economic Daily, vai Reuters, the SG III global pre-order status has topped 9 million by over 100 global carriers. If true then Samsung is on a trajectory to blow past any previous flagship Galaxy S device – it previously took the original Galaxy and Galaxy S II between 2 -5 months to get to those levels. In addition, this possible 9 million units on the books will help Samsung get to their target of selling over 200 million smartphones in 2012.

9,000,001..you can add my name to that list. Please Telus, launch at the same time as everyone else.

  • jellmoo

That is an absolutely incredible number, one that should really be taken to heart. Even with the slightly “meh” forecast that has surround the GS3, it’s got that kind of pre-sale numbers.

Other Android manufacturers really need to take Note and change what they are doing, since this has quickly become a one horse race in Androidland.

WOW !!! Worth spending the money for !!!

  • lukeiphone

I really hope they fixed battery on this. Whats the point of quadcore and heavy specs when the battery dies in 8 hours?

    • John

You mean dual core. Quad core is for International version. North America is slated to get the dual core.

Apple sold around 2 million iPhone 4S on the first weekend … are you saying, that Samsung will do over 4 times that many? HAHAHAHA, Go Android Go!

    • Brad F

Apple counts how many it sells directly to customers.

Samsung counts how many it sells to carriers. The carriers are Samsung’s customers, not you.

  • AllanVS

Sorry, Apple sold over 4 million 4S over 3 days (Fri-Sun) … so Samsung should still do at lease 2.5 times better in PRE-ORDERs alone. My bad.

    • Rio

This are simply pre-orders, lets wait for the actual numbers.

Apple had a significant numbero of pre orders too but they couldnt keep up with it.

If Samsung can actually push out 9Millions phones on the first day then this is true, but no way in hell they will be able too

    • Rio

nvm this is only pre register, not even pre orders lmao.

wait for the actual release before getting
      so excited

  • EvanKr

Meh, it looks like a good phone, but considering how good the One X is and how difficult it would be to beat it, I’ll hold off of my order for now.

  • Mobi

Mobilicity added 1609 new activation yesterday with their 50 % off plans. 45 % of those customers selected $25 plan which means they only pay $12.50 a month. VERY LOW ARPU for company to survive. • metoo

MY SOURCE IS THE INTERNET! DON’T DISPUTE MY F-A-C-T.

    • ANDROID1

All my friends switch and waiting to switch to Android from IOS, only stupid people stick with a company because they want to support a north american company, like people prefer Ford and they don’t like Toyota!! and they know very well that Japanese cars are better

    • ANDROID1

Tell me one thing, What is the difference between iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S?

      Speed?
      Ram?
      Design?
      Apps?

Hope iPhone 5 will be some thing new, just pray

  • Jason

I was on live chat with a Bell rep yesterday (May 17th) and she told me that the best info they have for a release date is first week of June. We will see but holy if that is the case!!!

  • Dagmar Schnietz

Wow! Is the 9 million figure for the whole world or just in Canada? Good luck in getting one this year!

  • Harris

How do you know this phone will feel good in your hands? Let alone the way it runs. Sure, you can compare to say the Galaxy Nexus but I hope people aren’t buying it like people buy an iPhone, just for its ‘status’ of having a great phone.

    Ehh

  • PkaTka

Why do well-known trollers get the most thumps-up? I even noticed that SAM is getting almost as many thumps up as down. St upid fan-droids.

Anyhow, amazing numbeer sammy. I’ll wait until more detailed reviews are posted. If the battery life is good, then I’ll be on the pre-order list.

  • Dukey

“Samsung Electronics Co has received some 9 million pre-orders for its third-generation Galaxy S smartphone from more than 100 GLOBAL CARRIERS, the Korea Economic Daily reported on Friday.”

Carrier orders does not mean actual preorders or sales.

    Reading comprehension failure.

  • DubC

Where is the pre-order for Telus?

  • Francis

    Samsung is dominating ;)

  • Tomatoes

I think that Samsung makes the best phones bar none but I doubt they will come anywhere close to iphone sales. I think 20 million lifetime like the GS2 is about right.

Although I really hope I am wrong so those dummies, rio and pkatka, can go cry in the corner together.

  • mrpulla

The One X? Is that a joke? This phone blows it away. The software alone is on a different level. This is the best smart phone ever created. Period.
