If you’re with SaskTel you’re probably patiently waiting for the official upgrade to OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to be pushed through to your Galaxy S II. This was supposed to arrive “mid to late April 2012,” but it now seems that you might be waiting a bit longer. SaskTel has updated their site with a notice that states “We’re working to obtain the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) platform for several phones. We expect this update to be available for the Samsung Galaxy S II mid May 2012.”

No reason for the delay was mentioned and hopefully it’s not impacting other carriers.

    Hi,

I am with Telus so most likely all Telus customers will be in the same boat as SaskTel customers.
This is typical for Samsung. Always late…
Too bad, the HTC Amaze 4G I tried first time was crashing on me with their Sense UI. I loved that phone, but couldn’t accept these crashes and went back to Galaxy S2.

Long live the open source! Better flash it on your own than wait for Samsung to do it…

My gs2 9100 got updated to ics already and there is some improvements.Ics is a lot harder on battery life and still has some bugs.

    Is sasktel same as telus?

They are competitors but they run on the same network and TELUS rides the coattails of Sasktel and Bell’s partnership for access to their towers.

Samsung has already rolled out ICS to most of the world. Is this a case of the ISP wanting to modify what samsung provided to put their own software and branding into the ISC update?

If all goes well, the update should be available sooner than mid-May. Mid-May is a conservative date.

The delay is not due to an carrier change requests. The update had simply been delayed by the OEM to ensure the final release is stable.

Or you could just go to xda and get ics now
