LG on producing a Google Nexus device: “We’re heavily in discussions”

The Nexus line of Android are all considered to be “pure Android”. These are devices that usually come with the latest OS and are also first to receive OS updates. We’ve already seen HTC release the Nexus One (2009), this was followed by the Nexus S (2010), then more recently the Galaxy Nexus (2011). Over the year there were rumours that LG was the front runner for the 3rd Nexus, but clearly Samsung came out and launched that device.

New rumours have surfaced today that has LG in the spotlight once again. According to a report by CNet they had a conversation with Ramchan Woo, head of LG’s smartphone division, and he stated that “We’re heavily in discussions… We’re working on it”. This is far away from any sort of confirmation that the next Nexus, wich will probably be packing OS Jelly Bean, will be an LG Nexus, but it’s progress.

It would make sense for Google to share the Nexus love. HTC and Samsung have claimed titles. Next up could very well be LG, possibly even Sony. Surely, giving the next Nexus to their new family member Motorola will have to wait a year or two. Pretty sure other manufacturers who have not had a kick at a Nexus would question the move.
