ASUS Transformer Prime arrives in the hands of some lucky Canadians
After a mass panic attack about the ASUS Transformer Prime possibly being delayed, this Android tablet has officially found its way onto Canadian soil. A few days ago we let you know that TigerDirect Canada started shipping to those who pre-ordered – and as you can see in the above pic it’s the 32GB Champagne model. As noted before, other retailers such as Best Buy and Future Shop have this scheduled for a December 30th availability. For some customers the holidays came a bit early… a couple more pics below.

I switched my pre order with NCIX from the 64GB to the 32GB yesterday and had the tablet in my hands by end of day.
Love the tablet, hope it over takes the IPAD!

I don’t understand why it would drop… Its the same price as today’s lowest end ipad… Plus there was a wifi issue. They couldn’t fix every single unit so they just re shipped to smaller mom and pop type stores. So people like me who pre ordered from a big box store got screwed over. Oh well I can wait.

Lol – ya, I’m sure that was the reason. They simply wanted to ensure that you get a good quality product while the pre-orders get broken units. Think how many units they would (or better said wouldn’t) sell if the early purchasers said the tablet was crap?
They simply didn’t have enough in stock and used one of the ‘known issues’ as excuse to prepare people for not getting theirs before Christmas.

The only down side to having the tablet already is that there are no leather cases available to order until mid January so need to be extra careful when using it until then

Does anyone have blacklight bleed on the display? i got a pretty big spot on the right top corner. im thinking to return it but dont want to let it go as there are none in stock so far….

My Prime (the one in the pics above) actually has a dead pixel at the bottom right of the screen to the left of the clock. Not worth returning it now as you will just have to wait forever until stock is at a normal level

I walked into the NCIX in Markham yesterday morning and asked if they had any. They said “yup, we have 18 on hold for pre-orders, and three extras”. I said “I’ll take one”. Now, I have one. It is glorious.
32GB Grey, no pre-order.

I just contacted Future Shop who is owned by Best Buy here in Canada. I placed my order at 9am on November 22, I received the back order notices. Then on Friday I received an update saying they will send me shipment notice as soon as the product was released with a date of December 20, 2011. Still waiting on the email, so I contact their customer service and every time I call them I get a different story. So the new story today is they are shipping the preorders from back in July(when the tablet wasn’t even announced until October I don’t believe). So I have no idea I sit and wait patiently that I will receive a shipped notice today or tomorrow at the latest……What a frustrating process this has been for a Christmas gift.

How can you say that the iPad is better for browsing when it doesnt even support flash? Do you own a Prime? Or even an iPad?

Oh ya, I’m getting a tablet to do browsing because my desktop, laptop, phone, and TV don’t already do that. A tablet is a luxury item which can be used for many purposes including browsing, sending emails, and playing games. If I wanted to do any of those 3 I wouldn’t be buying a tablet.
Someone please go bench the tablet browser so I can know up front if I’ll be waiting extra 1/2 of a second or not.
Sad to see that in the materialistic world we live in people don’t even know why they want something. I like the latest gadget myself, but I wouldn’t spend $500 without a purpose better than browsing or playing games on a tablet.

I really love mine so far(using it to type this) I’ve noticed some bugs on both mine and my friends ,skype being unstable,google earth causing the entire device to crash,other than that the speed blows every other tablet I used away,I could definitely say the browser is easily faster than ipad,im just disapointed in the rough 3.2 os,can’t wait till 4.0

NCIX still doesn’t have the Champagne Gold colour, I’m still on hold for them, they state that once they get a hold on the Champagne Gold, they’ll send it to me immediately. Hopefully that’s soon as this post shows a Champagne Gold variant from TigerDirect.

thats focked up. y dont they distribute the product evenly for all the stores listed in the asus website including bestbuy and futureshop canada. n y r they letting some retail stores sell it instores while the people who pre-ordered are desperately waiting for theres to be shipped.

Canada Computers in my area received only “2″ Primes both pre-orders and spoken for and many more preorders yet. Obviously these tablets are rare. I have one on preorder at Staples but they are clueless as to when they are getting their supply and the same with NCIX = nadda clue. Asus is just swamped with demand and capacity is way behind the orders. Give it a few weeks.

Had mine pre-ordered with Bestbuy and they couldn’t tell me anything. Read on a previous update on this site that some people were getting them from local shops. Found one that was out but said they might get me one but needed a deposit. Three hours later they had it in store and I picked up yesterday. I was lucky according to the guy at the store.
It seems that those that have been loyal and selling ASUS gear for years are getting them first, the other big box stores really haven’t sold any of their stuff until recent years….so it kind of makes sense that these vendors get them first.

i was too optimistic walking in to my local audiotronic and putting a deposit on 2 of 12 units expected in this week.
