Apple was quick to acknowledge the poor battery issues that some iOS 5 users were experiencing. Yesterday they pushed out OS 5.0.1 to remedy the situation, but looks like people are still complaining that nothing changed. This statement by Apple to All Things D sums up the lack of battery improvement: “The recent iOS software update addressed many of the battery issues that some customers experienced on their iOS 5 devices… We continue to investigate a few remaining issues.”
I wonder how many battery issues iOS 5 actually has.

Good. I think apple’s fan-base could use a little shake-up.

If this problem was happening with Blackberry and they did a solution but didn’t really resolve the issue, everyone would talk sh!t and bash them.

At least the Apple fanboys can just swap out batteries when it does as a temporary fix- oh wait, they can’t. lol.

If it was Microsoft having this issue with Windows Phones, everyone would be all over them for it. When it’s Apple people just quietly mention it and wait for a solution.

See? On my Android all I have to do is find the right app or ROM to fix the problem… not wait for some official half-assed solution to EVENTUALLY come out.

Though majority of consumers do not care, I am surprised that those who are more tach-savvy than the average do not feel that they are being MILKED by Apple’s marketing machine, and have been for many years. Every day a perfect consumer is born, and companies like Apple rack in huge profits!
I have a friend, who is barely making ends meet while studying at a university and living on campus. She has a cellphone plan with Rogers, which is killing her, and the ONLY reason why she went with it is because on an IPhone. I did educate her about Wind and Mobi, and they would have been perfect for her, yet she simply replied: “No Iphone – no deal!” *facepalm*
For those of us who appreciate value, and know our options, is there really a benefit in being on a 3-year contract and owning an IPhone?

lol @ Danny’s story. I dont get why Android owners have to constantly put Apple down? How often do Apple fanboys pick on Andriod lovers first? I have used them all, and Apple offers the best solution for someone who want something that works with the least amount of fiddling with.
I initially thought the update didnt do anything, but after using it all day today, i think it may have helped slightly.

Actually, wp7 mango has the best solution for people who don’t want to “fiddle”… With iPhone “there’s an app for that” and with mango you don’t need an app for that, cuz it’s probably already baked into the buttery smooth OS.

I’m considering switching to Galaxy S2. Do you know if GS2′s battery life is better?

@freestarterrocker
So what native apps aside from the useless XBox live “app” does WP7 have that the other OS’ don’t ?

Its not that a WP7 has super original native apps. Its that you don’t need to download “battery saver 6000″ to make up for the OS’s mistakes because you already have freaking amazing battery life.

just a regular iphone 4 but 5.0.1 has worsened my battery life quite a bit, just browsed and used whatsapp mainly, day before same usage at time of day at 74% vs 62% today, same signal strength, on wifi mainly, and same screen time within 5 mins.

The 5.0.1 update doesn’t fix the random “outgoing call with no audio” bug, and I haven’t noticed any significant change in battery life. I don’t notice any differences at all, really.

The 5.0.1 update doesn’t fix the random “outgoing call with no audio” bug. I make a call and can’t here the phone ringing at the other end.I can only use the speaker phone. WTF!!! What’s up APPLE???

I work for Telus, and this “bug” is a hardware issue with the phone. I know we have replaced a few for our client’s at the recommendation of Telus because it is a hardware and not a software issue.

Don’t worry, Apple will sell an 80$ accessory to connect your device to an extra large battery source. It will be a power adapter.

Personally I have noticed a great improvement in my battery life. I still think it should be improved a bit more. But going from 8 hours while connected to wifi/data to over 24 hours is good for me. Without constant connection to wifi/data it lasts a few days.
