Mobilicity launches their all-in “$40 Happier Holidays Plan”

Look at that little guy sitting on zero up there. He looks happy, content. Don’t blame him either. Mobilicity has released their holiday plan, aptly called the “Happier Holidays” plan. For $40/month you get a plan that’s “Guaranteed Rate for Life” and gives you the following:

- Unlimited Data
- Unlimited Long Distance to Canada & the U.S.
- Unlimited Local Calling
- Unlimited Text, Picture Messaging, plus Unlimited Global Text Messaging
- Call Waiting, Call Forwarding, 3-Way Calling, Voicemail + Caller I.D.

    • These comparisons of plans are tired who came with it first comparisons. Does it matter? these plans are great and have spurred competition and lower ARPU among the incumbents.

I was early enough to lock into the same plan for $35, but $40 is still good.

    • Except the Holiday Miracle Plan was just Mobilicitys Holiday plan from 2010.

    • @chall2k5, see:

      mobilicity.ca/support/plans-data/my-plan-includes-unlimited-data-is-tethering-allowed/

Apparently TETHERING IS INCLUDED for the $40. Right?

    • Edit: I just realized you meant at WIND, not Mobi.

    • Tethering isn’t a monitored action kids, relax.

Also let’s be clear. As with EVERYTHING they have run for a promotion, Wind stole this idea from Mobi. Then a few of the head guys got in massive trouble for running the promo as Wind said “it’s too cheap”.

In the end, it’s a fantastic value plan with everything all-in for $40. Perfect for people in the city, and the travel rates are lower than anyone elses North American wide!

    • Dobbin has confirmed via twitter that this plan doesn’t include tethering…..although that may change if enough people ask for it….phones with an integrated “wifi hotspot” feature will get charged extra, along with BIS/BES tethering….but there are ways around that…..namely Tether for Blackberry, and since im not an android user, I never looked into it

    • Nah, they’ll probably do $39 to match with their $29 dollar plan.

    • new subs? last year’s $40 HM plan was available to all (and I switched…so glad i did)

but even last year, both press releases came out within 2 hours of each other, so they would have only been acting on rumours…but I hope wind does come out with it again this holidays…

      I love competition!

Thanks Tony Clement (even though I wouldn’t vote for you)….without you, we wouldn’t have had this awesome competition, and would still be bent over by the big three

    • I’m in the same boat, I need service over a wider area than either Wind or Mobilicity can provide, I guess I’m stuck with Telus forever.

  6. If their coverage is as good as the big 3, I’m totally in. But for now I have to pass…there is no point in “saving money” if it also means no reception.
The poor handset selection doesn’t help either.

    • You need to get a prepaid line, and try it where you live and where you work. Coverage sometimes excels but mostly is worse than advertised. I believe Wind and Mobilicity both have 14-day 30 minute return policy.

  7. YEY! Competition!

You know, if you ignore Rogers, Bell and Telus, pretend they don’t exist. Our telecom industry is doing pretty good!
There’s some coverage issues if you ignore the big 3, but everything else is GREAT for the consumer.

Annnnnd, back to reality. :( Still a good promo though!

  8. A good plan for those lucky enough to live and operate solely in the zones. For the rest of us, we’re left wondering which will happen first: a) Quality plans and prices from the Big 3, or b) A worthwhile network from the ‘others’.

Sadly, neither seem likely in the immediate future :(

  12. @Mark, they roam with Rogers (in Canada), and T-Mobile (in the u.s.). Can’t roam on a T-Mobile network in Canada.

  15. @Sean why would I pay $40 for absolutely no reception in my house? I would love to but their coverage is nonexistent.

Anyway, I have Wind so I’m not paying that much for service

  16. When wind launched they were supposed to have all of north van to white rock covered by end of 2010 like their coverage map said, but they didn’t do it. i thought they ran out of cash, or not worth some of the areas due to lack of population density. yes their service area is growing, i rarely had problems in vancouver. and wind saved my life when i traveled to calgary and toronto (even to oshawa) i laughed at my friends, they were only using wifi and not picking up their calls. I told them mine was UNLIMITED ANYWHERE WE WENT HHAHAHA A few of them have switched hehe.

  19. Anyone know if Mobilicity has other promo holiday plans in the works in addition to the Holiday $40 plan coming out soon?
I don’t need data, and am looking for something cheaper.

Looking at their Nokia E73, and hoping that they’ll also have something (promo) to help lower the cost on that too.

If anyone knows please let me know….
