It was expected that Virgin Mobile will announce the new BlackBerry Curve 9360, this showed itself a few days ago with a screenshot of their inventory system. RIM officially said the new Curve would be available in Canada “this month” and on Twitter today Virgin confirmed they’ll be one of chosen carriers, probably available on to Members on August 29th. “phone news! we’ll be serving up the new blackberry curve 9360 smartphone. price and launch date coming soon…”

Update: Rogers just sent out a tweet that they too will release the Curve 9360 “in time for the back to school season”. No price plans have been announced.

Update #2: TELUS has just put the “coming soon” on their site for the Curve 9360 too.

Excited?

Telus as well will release this phone.

Ture that, it’s on their Smartphones page. Hopefully this phone arrives at multiple carriers, including AWS providers. It’s just a matter of pricing it right so that it sells correctly. :)

    ** FACT **
The keyboard on this phone is bigger than the screen.

So is the HTC Status keyboard and a tons of other phones that replicate the form factors of BB phones. What’s your point?

If this phone is under 300 with no contract I can see it selling well. Would like to see a 249-275 price tag but that likely won’t happen.

On a contract should be $0.

Why not make the Curve a prepaid-friendly phone, similarly to those low cost Android smartphones?

I heard from a rogers store that bold 9900 are already having issues. Blackberry is on very thin ice they zero margin or error. I have been reading about the 9360, 512mb of memory is nothing remember your apps, text messages and email are only confined to those 512mb plus the phone needs free memory to operate properly. Blackberry 7 uses more then 200mb does not leave much for the user. These specs are out of date, Samsung gio has the same processor and the phone is 150 dollars with no contract!
This phone should be no more then 249 without contract. That is still a lot for specs that are 3 years behind.

@Alex, in the US and UK the curve is sold as a prepaid friendly phone. I am not sure if this curve will be part of it, but I remember my friends telling me they could pick this phone up from many of the US airports.
