Fido Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro to be priced at $50 on a 3-year

The next Android device that Fido has on tap is the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro (Rogers will be releasing the Mini Pro). From the internal doc that surfaced last week it showed this has an “mid-August” release date and will come with OS 2.3. Just like the LG Optimus 2X that recently launched the Xperia Pro has an 8 megapixel camera but has a 3.7-inch screen, 4-row QWERTY slider and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. As for pricing, Best Buy has revealed that this will come in at a $49.99 3-year term price tag. No word yet on the no-contract price will most likely be around the $400 – $450 mark.

(Thanks Jason!)

  1. On the fence with this one. We’ll just have to wait and see how it does.

    • @jaylen same here. the phone looks good but i am not too fond of the xperia brand. I think i might as well just go with the droid/milestone 3

    • Vivaz Pro was pre-Android and runs on Symbian.

SE’s android phones are pretty solid.

  6. Xperia Pro 400-450$? and the Xperia mini Pro is 275$… Why the Xperia pro is more expenseive than LG optimus 2X?

    • coz other than lacking of the duel core
      it’s relatively comparable to lg
you are also buying the brand sony (ericsson) <–key reason
and their camera is better than the lg as well
      also with the display

as you might know, just brand itself is expensive =\
example: samsung netbook ~350; acer netbook ~250; lg netbook ~200

but i am not saying lg is bad ah… don't get me wrong

  9. I thought this phone would be coming out in Q4 due to production delays from the tsunami/earthquake.

If it goes Fido and not also to Rogers, I’ll be upset. It’s one I had my eye one cause of the Qwerty KB.

    • of course they are uanfficiol. but Google already released the 2.3.5 code, and DEVS are already making ROMS based on that build. I thought SE will try to keep up with the latest android builds? by October, or very soon after October, there will be definitely a new android build. If gingerbread is still the latest android (mobile) OS by that time.

  13. It’s been 6 months since it has been announced. I’m glad to finally see it released. There aren’t that many phones with qwerty sliders. I’m thinking it will be a little outclassed by the Motorola XT860 4G.

  14. Motorola can’t outclass anything. Everything they’ve ever made in the past 10 years (with the exception of the razr) is GARBAGE! Garbage, garbage!
