SaskTel launching the Samsung Galaxy S II 4G on Friday

Both Bell and Virgin started to sell the anticipated Samsung Galaxy S II 4G early, Bell had lineups today at their flagship Toronto Eaton Centre location and Virgin opened the floodgates online. This 4.3-inch Android 2.3.3 powered beast of a phone is also being released by SaskTel. Those customers who want this device will have to unfortunately wait until Friday to pick one up. This news was confirmed via Twitter earlier today: “The Samsung Galaxy S II 4G will be available from SaskTel starting Friday! Call your favourite store or dealer for availability”. No word on how many devices will be allocated to SaskTel so it’s best you start calling and reserving one if possible.

    • a couple of months ago when they first announced it the price was supposed to be $79, but i wouldn’t be surprised if it was $169 like Virgin and Bell. on a no-term is will be $599

  4. As a customer advocate, i’ve asked this once, and i’ll ask it again:

“Can someone who has a SaskTel service please tell me what the company is like and how their products and services are?”

It would be much appreciated if someone answered my with a reply to my comment, as i’m unfamiliar with the SaskTel company and what makes them different besides their region. Thank you in advance! :D

Short answer is Sasktel is a regional carrier for Saskatchewan only. It is a crown corporation which means it is run by the provincial government. Their plans are actually pretty decent. They do buy all their phones through Bell which is why they have a very similar lineup. Outside of Saskatchewan, Sasktel customers roam on Bell/Telus except in Manitoba where they roam on MTS/Rogers. Good carrier provided you live in Saskatchewan.

  5. Wow, another carrier releasing either the Sensation/Galaxy S2 that doesn’t include Telus. I’m baffled as to what Telus is doing!

To Alex Perrier, Sasktel is decent, but there is absolutely NO negotiating with them when it comes time to renew a contract. My wife switched from Sasktel to Telus recently after she asked for a “freebie” of some sort when signing a new 3 year contract and they suggested she go to Telus for that sort of thing haha. She took their advice!

  6. Just stop by a Sasktel store. They are not getting them in tomorrow but they will be available for pre-order.

  7. Sounds like Sasktel didn’t get their shipment from Bell today. All dealers in Saskatoon are saying they won’t have S2s available until Monday.

    • I dropped into the downtown Sasktel store in Saskatoon this morning and the sales people told me that they wouldn’t be getting the phone for another 3 or 4 weeks!! Yet when I dropped over to the Jump.ca store in Midtown Plaza, I was told they are suppose to get the phone today.
