Rogers officially discontinues the White BlackBerry Torch 9800

It was good while it lasted. The pure white colour of the 3.2-inch touchscreen QWERTY slider BlackBerry Torch 9800 has officially been discontinued by Rogers. The original black version is still going strong for the time being… but you can also count on this eventually being pushed aside to make room for the Torch 9810 with BlackBerry 7 OS.

(Thanks tipster!)

  1. not many people are fans of Straight white phones. They probably got rid of it cause there was to many in stock.

  2. Last time I checked Rogers does not make any phones. They just provide crappy service and all 9 million zombies sign 3 year contracts with overpriced plans charging 100x the cost yet they still continue to grow…

  4. Say hello to the next $0 3-year contract phone that rogers will market as if it’s the best deal out there. Telus should put this on there 72 hour sale for $0 on a one year. Best way to get ride of it (assuming telus will follow suit)

  7. Bad riddance.

Sell your phones on a two-year contract already! There is absolutely NO reason for longer contracts! :@

  8. When Rogers discontinues a model, its because they ran out of it in their warehouse. Do no expect to find it at 0$ a la Telus. Expect not to find any anywhere, period.

  9. What happens to their discontinue products? Do they return it to RIM and say “Your Blackberry Bold 9800 (white) sucks, we need our money back because we can’t sell your shitty devices!” I’m glad to be with WIND, Google Nexus S! Wifi sucks tho, Samsung’s fault.

  10. how does one find out what devices are discontinued from rogers? For example bb 9700? 8900? etc.
is there a webpage that lists them?

  11. White Torch doesn’t sell very well, nor do purple and red Curves. Overstock would be one reason why it’s discontinued, not because it ran out of stock.

  12. They stopped selling this phone because there a major hardware glitch that caused a large number of them to be returned to RIM.

These phones are trash, just like RIM’s business sense.

  13. I was speaking to Rogers people and they said the 9800 was chronic with issues. Lots of returns. Especially with the White’s paint issues. Of course Rogers will dump the 9800 in lieu of the 9810. Funny thing is, Rogers wants to replace my wifes glitchy device with another 9800? Screw that. And try to “fix” my glitchy 9800? We’ll see. If not, I’m forcing them to give me 9810, or a Galaxy… If not, from the 2 weeks of lousy customer service, with issue after issue after issue- I’ll get out of my entire plan and they’ll loose my $5000 a year in business.
