Rogers releases the Nokia E5 on Prepaid for $159.99

Rogers has released the Nokia E5 on their Pay As You Go PrePaid lineup. For the specs this QWERTY device is priced really good at $159.99 no-term. The E5 comes with a 5-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, 2.4-inch display (320×240), can hold up to 16GB with a microSD card and weighs in at 126 grams.

    • I wonder how Robbers would justify selling prepaid E63 now, given that it’s 2.5 year old phone and currently priced at $179.99 on their website?

  2. Wake up wind/mobilicity don’t sell their phones at cost. All carriers mark up.

  3. Nokia E73 on Mobilicity for $150 might be a better value since it comes with autofocus camera, better quality screen and optical trackpad, but E5 is the only S60 smartphone produced by Nokia that has 256MB of RAM and according to YouTube video called “Nokia E5 breaks world multitasking record! 74 apps!” it can run a lot of applications simultaneously.
Having said that, Symbian is a dying platform altogether and all of this might not really matter anymore.

  4. The similar Nokia C3 phone from Chat-r & Rogers is less costly, and so are the Chat-r monthly plans.

    • @Alex The C3 is cheaper because it is not a smartphone – it runs S40. The E5 is an S60 device.

    • @Alex Perrier
You can’t really compare C3 and E5 because:
      1) They run two very different OSes, S40 vs S60(true smartphone OS)
      2) 2mp camera without flash vs 5mp camera with flash
      3) No GPS vs GPS that works without need of data plan with Nokia Maps
      4) 64MB of RAM vs 256MB
      5) No 3g vs HSDPA 10.2 Mbps, HSUPA 2.0 Mbps on E5
      6) 600MHz CPU on E5 vs something way slower on C3

  5. This one has 3G data; the C3 does not.

  7. Actually it has not only 3G but HSDPA 10.2 Mbps. With Joikuspot it can be turned into a very fast WiFi access point.

  9. Sorry people. The line is rather blurry between what is a Nokia non-smartphone and what is Nokia smartphone! i thought that Wi-Fi = smartphone. Guess not.

Having said that, Chat-r is good for voice and text plans. Some people have smartphones with no data, which is bizarre but costs way less. Rogers charges a lot for their service.

  11. Problem with E73 from Mobilicity is that it seemingly can’t be unlocked fully. Data won’t work properly. And the cost in the GTA to unlock it is $50 (apparently), some specific E73s can’t be unlocked for some reason
