Google: 70.2% of all Android devices run OS 2.2 or higher

Every month Google shows the percentage of what OS versions are powering Android devices. OS 1.5 and 1.6 continues to fall into the sunset with a combined 5.3% of current devices, the once powerful OS 2.1 has also dipped to 24.5%. The biggest piece of the Android OS pie is OS 2.2 Froyo with 65.9%… leading towards a combined Android OS share of 70.2% of Android devices running OS 2.2 or higher. I’m sure we’ll see OS 2.3 Gingerbread stats increase with the recent Xperia Play and arc releases. As for the tablet focused OS 3.0 Honeycomb, it only clocks in at 0.3% which shows how Xoom sales are.
