Dell Streak 7 Tablet retails for $449.99 with an estimated ship date of April 28th

We’re not sure when this popped up on the Dell Canada site but the Dell Streak 7 tablet is almost here. This Android 2.2 tablet comes in with the price tag of $449.99 and has a 7-inch display that’s made of Gorilla Glass (resolution of 800×480). Other notable specs are that it has a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, flash and a 1.3 MP front-facing camera, full HTML browser, WiFi, 16GB of internal storage and can hold up to 32GB. When I attempted to check out and purchase this it gave me an “Estimated Ship Date of 28/04/2011″.

So it’s not running Android 3.0 but it’s yet another tablet to consider.

  1. LOL, froyo, 7″, $449… Did they notice that the EEE Pad Transformer is coming our way in a few days for $50 less, 10″ screen and Honeycomb?

  4. 7″ and a 800×480 display?

    Is this a joke?

  5. Low resolution, crap battery life. But on the plus side, it has quad band 3g, and will work on all Canadian carriers.

    • No, it supports two bands for the incumbents + the main European band.

But on the plus side, it is one of the few devices to support the standard PDMI docking connector. Samsung, by way of comparison, has tweaked the PDMI on their tablets to force you to buy accessories from them.

  7. Wow, the link now says $399.99. Definitely a step in the right direction, but I’d love to see $199.99 on that thing. For $399, I’m all over the Asus Transformer.

    • I wonder if the person who down-voted me wants to pay less or more than $199 for this tablet…

  8. I like the 7″ form factor so I would consider this is they guaranteed that it will be upgraded to 3.0 or 2.4.

Or if they allow for rooting (like SE) so I can get updates elsewhere…

  10. Is Dell nuts? Who on earth would buy this? Viewsonic’s G Tablet has been on sale for $300 in the last week weeks … Why would anyone (with a brain) get Dell when a more supirior tablet is offered for a lower price? G tablet has an active community on XDA so you’re guaranteed to get honeycomb ROMs when they release the codes … not sure about Dell’s overpriced and outdated garbage!

  12. Price seems to be $ 399 at dell.ca.
For $200 I would probably consider one.
As it stands, it’s too expensive for something that’s almost 2 generations behind current offerings. While 7″ is fine size, it has a 3.5″ phone resolution of 800×480. And Froyo 2.2 without any solid commitment to future upgrade?

  13. A tablet to consider? With Froyo? At this price, this device is a joke.
For 50$ more you get the PlayBook which offer a far better experience.
And if the XOOM Tegra performance is any indication, one should stay away from this tablet because Honeycomb won’t bring much more fun there.

  14. I like all these comments. In fact I like them so much, I am strongly in favour of designating April 28 as the new ALL FOOL’S DAY.

Dell is a perfect nut; and all who buy this nut are even more nuts.

  15. @Tom: The T-Mobile version of the Streak 7 has both AWS and 850/1900 3G bands. However it would seem Dell is selling only a wi-fi version in Canada.

  16. Lol way to much really not worth the cash to spend on something so outdated and a sad attempt on the tablet, the streak 5 is awesome for its size and making phone calls the 7 no, dell should have went to walmart to sell there for 150 then theyll see some sales in canada
