    • No it’s not :S It’s 199.99 to purchase outright through Telus so its actually more expensive.

    • @DarkisFever why do you say Telus is more expensive? Because of activation costs?

    • Just in case anyone is wondering the same as me, I checked Telus’ web site and you can buy this phone for $199.99 without a plan and so there doesn’t seem to be any other charges such as activation fees etc (just tax obviously).

  2. Still a sweet deal. Telus charges $35 for activations.

  3. I just left Koodo because I didn’t anticipate them getting a WP7 anytime soon. Maybe it will happen sooner than I thought?

  5. FINALLY! And So happy Koodo didn’t delay the release of the phone sooner, like they did with previous phones…

I have been waiting to flip my old Keybo with something better for a while now, but the BB just wasn’t appealing to me…and I wanted a smartphone without heading to the Big 3. So Happy they got an Android, and really, it aint that bad of a phone too… Better then I expected with Koodo anyways!

    • No, you actually don’t need a data plan. You can be on a talk plan alone and activate the LG Optimus One!

    • Starting yesterday (March 2), no data plans required on smartphones at Koodo. This includes the Curve.

    • STU – the Curve needs data to operate. All blackberries do.

Curuia – You do realize Koodo is owned, and fully controlled by Telus right? Just as Rogers is to Fido and Chatr, just as Aliant is to Solo and Virgin.

Keith – WP7 haven’t sold enough units worldwide needed to be able to subsidize their prices enough to meet the price demands of Koodo.

  7. Good phone for the price, but be warned of the issue that dust gets inside the screen.

I didn’t think anything of it when I read about it, but I now have flecks of dust on the lower half of my display. I guess LG covers this with warranty service, but it’s almost assuredly going to be a recurring issue.

  8. I just got this phone. And it’s quite fast on opening an application. The small is a lil small but you can download swype for easier typing. FOr me it’s quite a magnificent phone. My only complain is that the facebook app preloaded on the device dont have the “chat feature” (Im used to an Iphone 3g), but all in all its a good phone for a good price.

  9. Whoa, Koodo finally has a Android phone.
Do you need a Data Plan added to your Voice plan (Talk and text combo for me) for this phone?

I haven’t read anything from their website saying you need a data plan.

Would I still be able to use the Facebook app and other apps?

if so, this is an amazing deal!!

  11. I don’t have a data plan on my phone. Facebook, twitter, Youtube comes preloaded on the phone. You can just use your own wifi connection to go to the internet. Plus you can also download all sorts of apps in the android market.

*CORRECTION ABOUT THE FACEBOOK APP,There’s an upgrade on the android market for facebook that made me able to do a chat on my phone*

    • That’s amazing. Then for sure I am getting this phone with no data plan. Considering I would only use those apps if I have WiFi.

I mainly want the phone because I really enjoy the interface and all of the phone.

      Thanks for the info!

  12. This upgrade fried my Optimus One. I know what you’re thinking, ‘Well, this guy’s an i***t. He probably just didn’t do it properly.”
Truth is: I followed the instructions perfectly. I used the LG mobile updater application, and midway through the installation, the application told me that my phone had become “disconnected” from the PC (though it hadn’t). It requested that I reconnect it, and when I unplugged it to reconnect, the phone powered down and never turned back on again. It’s currently being sent away to Koodo’s service centre for repair/replacement.

It may have been an extraordinary case for me. I’d still use extra precaution when doing this yourself.
