“HTC Desire Z Leather Case” pops up in Best Buy Canada inventory

HTC announced a couple new devices this past week: the Desire HD and the Desire Z. Specifically when it comes to a release in Canada the closest hint was that “the HTC Desire Z shipping in North America later this year.”

Looks like we’re one step closer to a release as one of our tipsters sent us a Best Buy inventory screenshot that shows the “HTC Desire Z Leather Case-Black” to retail for $32.99. No word on when we’ll be seeing this officially launch in Canada or with what carrier or the price plans.

Specs have the Desire Z running Android 2.2 (Froyo), 800MHz Qualcomm 7230 processor with a 3.7 inch display (resolution of 480 x 800), a slideout QWERTY keyboard, 5 megapixel camera that records 720p HD videos.

  2. I’m guess Bell or Telus, but in theory it could be for any carrier since this phone comes in 850/1900 and AWS (G2) versions.

  4. I’m hoping Telus, because Telus needs a new Android phone with awesome QWERTY. Rogers and Bell have Galaxy S, so they can skip this one :)

Wow, Best Buy pre-purchases cases for the Desire Z (a brand new device) making them ready when the phone is available to the public but they didn’t do the same for accessories for the original Desire (a phone that’s been available in Europe throughout the year). I still can’t get a screen protector made specifically for the Desire from Best Buy yet, I have to use a universal screen protector that I have to cut to make fit.

    • You could be right, and it can obviously be a complete hoax.

      But if you look at the slip you can see that the case is a 2 piece. 1 Piece is for the top w/the screen, and the bottom is for the pop out keyboard

      that’s why it says 2 Cases & Covers

      Of course, I could be wrong as well, but that’s my interpretation

  13. Let’s hope this is not a hoax.

    HTC should be smart enough to recognize a HUGE niche market for a new QWERTY android with NAM 3G. People from the US will flock to get them at full price to unlock and use on AT&T just like the Motorola Milestone (Telus) with NAM 3G.

    C’mon HTC get it right……NAM 3G FTW !

    • The only problem is, Canada is only 1 Country. The United States is also 1 country, but in terms of population density… They easily outnumber Canada unfortunately.

      Then the other thing is that in Europe there are Several countries that HTC can market the phone to… Ultimately it comes down to how many people they can expose the product to that have a desire (no pun intended) to purchase the phone

      Many Canadians like Android, but we may be a small population when compared to Countries in Europe and the United States =(
