Rogers BlackBerry Torch 9800 display arrives, minus the device

It’s known that Rogers will be releasing the upcoming BlackBerry Torch 9800 “in the coming weeks” and thanks to one of our tipsters for sending in this shot of the display case. This is a kiosk version and as you can tell the only thing missing is the actual Torch itself, but this is progress and a sign that the release is coming soon! Rumours are that Rogers will be available in a couple colours, black and white. No word yet on the official launch date or pricing. We’ll update you when we find out more.

Update: Were now getting tips that the launch date is scheduled for September 15th, not confirmed.

  3. Too bad this device wasn’t released a year or two ago; then its technology may have been more competitive. This new Blackberry device doesn’t even measure up to the competition!!

  7. where on the display does it say that it is a torch display unit, Just because it it missing a phone.

    Maybe it is a 9300 display unit?

  8. @Svea, concept has already been done, look at the Palm Pre. :) The picture of the missing unit is sorta funny.

    I’m waiting for the Bold 9780 myself.

    The update to this article says Sept 15. Blackberry Bonanza also reporting Sept 15. This would make sense with the potential Telus launch of Sept 16, giving Rogers some exclusivity.

  11. don’t hold you breath for rogers getting this out for sept.. i have it on good authority (directly from a rogers regional mgr) that its more likely dec jan before they get it.. apparently bell bought out exclucivity rights from rim for 6 months.. rogers is pissed, but nothing they can do about it..

    Obviously you have no idea what you’re talking about. You’re comment was mid august and you said rogers will get it about dec-jan……and bell bought it exclusively for 6 months? Wouldn’t that make it feb-mar?
