Bell releases iPhone 4 details: $30 6GB plan plus $159.95/$269.95 on 3-year

It seems like a trend will be happening in Canada. Bell has just announced their iPhone pricing to be $159.95 for the 16GB version and $269.95 for the 32GB version. Both of these are on 3-year contract. In addition, as we stated before, Bell has also brought back the $30/month 6GB data plan. If you’ve got an iPad, the fine folks over at Bell say for “$10 per month, you can share the data between both your iPhone 4 and iPad”. This promo is on July 30 to September 30th

One more thing. Seems like stock is already low as “Online orders ship within 14 days. Available in limited quantities.”

  1. Surprise, surprise. Can’t wait for Telus to completely blow us all away with the exact same plans.

  3. Is this legal??? I mean, for multiple companies to offer the exact same price for the same product? There is absolutely no competition going on here…

It’s collusion at best, yet the CRTC doesn’t think this is a problem.

  6. Hey Plazmic,

Not to defend the Telcos but the phone price itself is set by Apple and they have next to no flexibility to alter that price.

In regards to the monthly plans thats another story. At least bell is offering data sharing for $10/month where rogers is offering it for $20.

  7. Wonder why Mobile Syrup took out their “Reply to Comment” feature. Anyways, to danish.pastry, I read somewhere that the telcos pay $300 – $400 to apple. I don’t think Apple tells them to turn around and sell it for $700 – $800.

  8. The only credit I can give Rogers and Bell right now, is that they’ve knocked the price down of the 3 year contracts from $199/$299 for 16GB/32GB to $159/$269 respectively for new clients. (oh and the 6GB/$30 data add-on is a plus, but the fee to share it with an iPad is a huge minus)

Does anyone know why theres the $40 and $30 knocked off of the original 3yr contract prices? Or is it just extra subsidizing to get new customers?

  9. hmm, the exact same price for the phone and the exact same price for the plans, I really don’t want my tax dollars going to CRTC anymore.

  10. so how do we buy the phone online? Do we have to wait until midnight or something? Or can we just walk into any Bell Store and grab it if the line isn’t too bad?

  13. looks like i have to your job for you again MobileSyrup….

actual cost of a 32gb iphone 4 on a three year contract = approx $2600

    not $270

If you are going to give people prices then give them actual costs.

  17. Does anyone know, when Bell says:

    “Exclusive Mobile TV offer:
Get access to FREE Mobile TV (data download and usage charges apply) until September 30th and catch full-length episodes of your favourite shows, news, weather, entertainment and sports. Download the Bell Mobile TV app from the App Store to access this service.”

Do they mean from now until September 30th you get free TV? Or the offer is valid until September 30th (like the 6GB/$30) but you get 3 years of free TV? Streaming live NHL games on my iPhone sounds so awesome… I hope it’s for 3 years!

  18. Does anyone know what is the cheapest plan to get between the big 3 and Virgin and Fido?
I’m a student and I don’t really want to pay more than 50 a month. The Virgin’s 50$ student plan looks good, but it doesn’t have voicemail/call display. I also liked Telus’s 30$ voice plan with 50mb 20$ bundle which adds up to 50 but a rep told me I can only get iphone plans with the iphone.

  19. @ Alex:

AFAIK, I believe the Free Mobile TV is only good until September 30th. Cause I think the Mobile TV is a paid per month subscription at $8 per month. So, if you get an iPhone 4 tomorrow and activate it and your ready to go, you essentially get 2 months free of Mobile TV without paying the $8/month.

However, you shold realize that the Mobile TV also uses up your data, and on the website it says “can be charged up to $2 per session without a data/mobile browsing plan”. So depending on how much mobile tv you would watch, the standard 500mb of data may go fast. Unfortunately, its not good for the 3 years, only the 2 months until September 30. And theres also a seperate NHL browsing supscription that costs $8/month from Bell, but its not live streamed FYI.

  20. Why hasn’t Telus said anything about the iPhone pricing/plans?

    I’m starting to get nervous…

  21. @Mike – Are you serious?? They’re going to be the exact same prices, lololol. There’s a huge trend that very obvious. As it stands right now: Bell, Virgin, Rogers and Fido all have the same pricing… I’m sure Telus is going to follow suit.

  24. $65
    300 minutes
    6PM Evening and Weekends
    Unlimited Text
    6GB Data
    iPhone Visual Voice Mail
    6 months unlimited local calling

$80 and $100 iPhone plan are the same as what is on their web with the increase of data to 6GB on those two plans as well. Take a look, my guess it will update in the morning.

  25. Koodo has $15/m plan + $10/m for 100MB data (email, FB, twitter, web, etc.).
So $25/m gives voice, text, data, but none of the extras.
    Koodo is Telus.

  26. For once, Cdn pricing is better tha US. This is impressive. If there was collusion, we’d be paying $199/$299 or higher. Roger’s obviously made the first move and the others had to price match. Who would want to be higher on launch day? Why do you think Telus hasnt announced? They were probably planning for it to be higher and are frantically trying to match. How is this a bad thing?
