Now that almost every Canadian carrier has the Curve 8530/8520 it’s time that RIM to come out with it’s next generation of a low-end QWERTY smartphone.
Enter the BlackBerry Curve 9300 “Kepler”. Thanks to Crackberry as they’ve uncovered the first pics of this upcoming device – changes are that it’ll add 3G, WiFi, increased RAM to 256 MB… but still has the same QVGA display resolution at 320 x 240.

Still the same 2MP camera with no flash. Blahhh…..

The current 85xx series HAS 256MB of RAM! Additionally, the 85xx series currently has wifi too. So the only difference between the 93xx and 85xx is 3G. Please correct your article!

Rims’s technical specifications haven’t changed much in the past couple of years. Rim keeps rehashing the same designs and for the most part it has worked well to drive sales. But as the smart phone becomes even more ubiquitous, I am doubtful that Rim will maintain it’s market dominance. As long time Rim user, I am becoming impatient with Rim’s lack of consumer focus. While Iphone, Android and Web OS users are using slickly polished devices, I’ve been loyal to a device that freezes at random intervals, takes forever to load, and requires a battery pull. And dont get me started on what it did when I plugged a pair of Bose noise cancellation headphones into it! Ugh! Granted, I love Blackberry’s messaging platform and push email…but as a public transit soldier, despise the media player and Gimmicky Commodore 64 graphics…I got so fed up with the poor media playback that I bought a Zune HD just so I could have a pleasant media experience. Now naysays may consider this trolling, bashing, and will extoll the virtues of my choice as a consumer to choose other devices, but let it be known, that after wasting 499 on the Bold 9700, the moment it dies, so too will my love affair with the Blackberry platform. Never thought I’d go with a “Windoze” phone, but Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 series phones are looking pretty sweet! And Zune integration makes it even more enticing.

What is going on with RIM? All their devices are so similar. How is this significantly different from the new Tour coming out? I’m not saying I NEED more options and models so why are they making it complicated?

The OS as slow as ding old man… and biggest loser is toooooooo many models and looks almost same, but one thing is good very solid if you drop it on highway maybe it still works after you pick it up

I love my Curve 8900, it is slow here and there, the 9700 seems very interesting but I’m not sure I like it’s shrunk factor. I prefer the 9000 but with it’s 128MB of RAM I don’t think it’s good enough. 256MB+ is the way to go, the Tour 9650 is the top crop for me. So right now I’m stuck in keeping my 8900 and just buying a new housing for $60 with trackball or getting a 9700 for $99 and renewing my contract or getting an iPhone4 for $159.
