More rumours are swirling today of the rumoured possible plans of Microsoft officially announcing plans to launch a “Zune Phone”, basically a phone with Zune capabilities. Early specs are that it has Windows Mobile 7, will use a Nvidia Tegra chip, has a 480 x 272 screen, HDMI video out, and weighs around 70 grams.
Spanish blog MuyComputer says this will be officially announced during Mobile World Congress this February is 100% confirmed, and Gizmodo is backing the rumour up stating they spoke with the blogs editorial director Javier Pérez Cortijo, “he told me that “the Zune Phone presentation at Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress 2010 is 100% confirmed.”
Would you buy one if/when it comes out?
Nah, I’ve got nothing to gain with a WinMo phone over my Android phone. No, native gmail, google calendar, etc.

Maybe if they bothered to get Marketplace working here in Canada.
Until then…it’s pretty useless.

nope, we cant even get the zune hd! we get screwed by microsoft, it took them over a year to release the zune here and then they killed those models to start over with the zune hd so we cant even buy zunes now since best buy etc sold off the remaining stock!

Since I’m not likely to see it in Canada before I pick up an Android phone, no.

It’s not a good time to buy any Windows Phone. Its losing market share so rapidly. How is it going to survive?
When Microsoft releases the new one, the old one will not sell, and its fall will become faster.
Just like Zune arrived late to market, thus couldn’t bump off the iPod, Microsoft’s WinMo 7 will fail to gain market success, and will only make the bottom fall out of the market for current Windows Phones.
Android and iPhone are too established.

I would never buy this in a million years. I prefer android phones like the nexus one.

I dont know how well a zune phone would do in this market that has a high demand for blackberries, iphones and android phones. windows mobile is very old and isn’t that different when you upgrade for mobile 6 to 6.5, its the same. although it would be cool to see what mobile 7 would look like on a phone. I think that mobile 7 on the zune is a rumor because windows just lanched windows 7 and windows mobile 6.5. It doesn’t really make sense to me. But I would love to see this “Zune” phone and how it would compare to the iphone

I have a Zune HD (from the states), and it’s really great, well designed device. As far as the UI goes, it’s way snappier than the iPhone/iPod (had an iPod fan confirm that), because it has an fps of about 30, vs 10 for the iPhone/pod. It appears very, very smooth. No glitching, no bugginess… The first thing I thought when I got it was: I really wish my WinMo phone worked like this.
Tegra makes everything run great, and the OLED screen is absolutely gorgeous. I would never trade my Zune HD for a million apps.
However, like some have said here, it may be too little, too late for WinMo, which is kind of sad. If they’d just done it right in the first place, things would be different. My next phone will probably be an android, but as long as a sub-par program like iTunes is relied upon for syncing, I will never own an iPhone.

I’d buy one if it was exactly like a zune hd with a mic and speaker.

I’d rather have a Zune HD, but if a Zune phone has a similar UI then I’d be down with that.

I would definitely buy one in the U.S. not Canada. I love my Zune 80gb. However it likely will not come to Canada, and would be hobbled by a lack of some functionality.
