Update: Earlier today we wrote about how the iPhone 3GS was “back in stock” and I guess sales are still going strong or they really needed to fulfill all those backorders… whatever the reason is, the iPhone 3GS is again “Out of Stock” at both Rogers and Fido. Best to go an Apple Store location, or Craigslist.
*****
This only took a few months! After the June 19th launch of the Apple iPhone 3GS, Rogers and Fido immediately put the “out of Stock” on their sites and stated “The Canadian launch of the iPhone 3GS has been a tremendous success. Rogers has experienced high demand and has sold out of the iPhone 3GS in the majority of outlets across the country. New shipments are on their way and back orders will be filled on a priority basis”.
Good news as they are now fully stocked up with a new shipment of the 16GB or 32GB version. The “Out of Stock” has been removed and you can now pick this up for $199.99 on a 3-year plan for the 16GB version, or $299.99 for the 32GB version.
Better act fast as I’m sure within a few minutes it’ll be back to being unavailable. Also the $30 6GB price plan is set to expire on September 15th.
Just checked the website from rogers and it says out of stock so no luck

Rogers is signing up people on 3 year contracts without the phone. I have been on contract for two months and have to keep getting a credit for data plan since I still don’t have a iphone. They are locking people into 3 year terms without providing the product yet. Its the only way to get one. I think its a horrible business practice. I have grown sick of waiting and now I have no option to get the Palm Pre.

It’s a pretty big scam,
the pricing and system access fee that is – very poor service and unfair policies.

Rogers and their bad dog Fido have handled this situation very badly, I’ve been paying for a data plan for two months now with no iPhone yet. Worse still, Fido has charged me for the device on my bill and doesn’t even have a date for when they will have the 3Gs available.
Fido and Rogers will claim that the fault lies with Apple and that Apple has not supplied them with sufficient stock.
The problem is that there isn’t enough competition in this space. We’ll wait for Telus and Bell and maybe the new entrants to be able to support the iPhone on their networks(this is just around the corner) and then we’ll see how Fido and Rogers get away with these bad business practices….

Aw, diarln’, I feel your pain. You know I do. I’m glad I jumped ship and went to Fido. I’m still trying to figure out a way to avoid the cancellation. I’ll keep you posted on my efforts.
