CRTC fines 3 for breaking National Do Not Call List rules

do-not-call-me-telemarketer

Wicked. Special thanks goes out to the CRTC for finally stepping up. They found that 3 telemarketers guilty of violating the National Do Not Call List (DNCL) Rules. Over 6.7 million Canadians took the time to sign up for this list that has gone under fire for essentially failing in several areas (read here and here)… but today the CRTC issued a $4,000 fine to Rob Sugar, a $10,000 fine to Roofing by Peerless Mason Ltd. and an additional $10,000 fine to Waterproofing by Peerless Mason Inc.

The telemarketers have 30 days to pay their fines and the money will be deposited to the Government of Canada’s Consolidated Revenue Fund.

  4. Interesting as Bell was awarded the contract for operating the National Do Not Call list… They can be trusted to operate it but not to abide by it I guess.
