Criminals are loving the BlackBerry

BlackBerry devices are not just for business people or early adoptors of technology anymore. Gangs and criminals alike are all over it! The reason is the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES). This gem that RIM created is making it hard for the Canadian Police to follow or listen in on any conversations or e-mails as it works on a secure network that encrypts data.

Supt. Pat Fogerty of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia said “It does limit our abilities to intercept, which in turn minimizes our abilities to prevent the crimes. They completely know that this technology is to their advantage, and they will stay on that technology until such time that there is new technology that will be even more secure.”
