Telus has launched the Samsung Instinct today – something we all have know for quite a while. The price on the 3-year contract starts at $129.99 (with a minimum $15 plan for three months). This is the same price as it is with Bell… however, the kicker is the price of the no contract that is available at Telus for $399.99… this is important as Bell released the Instinct for $479.95. Competition is always good for us Canadians!
The Instinct is what some are calling the “iPhone killer” as it has features such as a touch screen interface, full QWERTY keyboard, GPS, a music player that has the ability to call, text or surf the net (full HTML browser), watch movies, 2.0 mega pixel camera with 4x digital zoom and video camcorder.
To celebrate the launch of the Instinct, Telus and Samsung are giving you the opportunity to put your old phone into a slingshot and send it flying. The event will be held in Toronto today at College Park (corner of Yonge and Gerrard) at 11am – 2pm. The object is to put your old phone into a slingshot, pull back and aim it into a giant Samsung blue bin for a chance to win an Instinct… If you are successful you will get a scratch card to where you can win the Instinct and other prizes.
Paul Brannen, General Manager, Wireless Terminal Division, Samsung Electronics Canada said “Samsung is committed to creating technologically advanced devices that enhance the lives of our customers. While our INSTINCT device is not intended to replace a person’s instincts, it does have several features that may help if your own instincts let you down.”
We will have a review soon… More info at Telus

Don’t buy the instinct quite yet, I have had 2 in the last 8 days, the problem is with the phone itself, if you go into the webrowser and save a bookmark, once you exit the browser, say to answer a text, when you try to got back to the browser it freezes, and then you have to restart the phone, delete the bookmark or your phone will keep freezing, and do a master reset. But after you reset it the browser locks you out of your bookmarks. I phoned twice the first time they said i had a fluky phone, second time they put a 1st level support ticket on it. and told me they didnt know how long it would take to work this issue out, and to try a new phone. But besides that the phone is great just dont ever save bookmarks. And you have to suscribe to telus navigator for GPS
