Instagram is now rolling out a feature that lets users download their data

Users can now see all the data that Instagram knows about them

Instagram has now begun rolling out a ‘data download’ feature, allowing users to take their content to another platform should they desire to switch.

The feature is similar to Facebook’s ‘Download Your Information’ tool, which has recently updated to include more user data.

To use Instagram’s new feature, users can navigate to the app’s privacy settings on the web. iOS and Android support is coming soon according to an Instagram representative that spoke with Tech Crunch.

The process of collecting and packaging the data can take several hours or even days depending on the amount of content on a user’s profile. In my test, it took about 10 minutes. Once a user requests their data Instagram will ask for an email address that it can send an alert to once the data is ready.

Once a user receives their data they’ll see backups of their photos, comments, friends list, stories and search results.
