Before BlackBerry launched the BlackBerry Z10, Q10 and Q5, the company encouraged developers to port apps over to their new BlackBerry 10 OS. These Port-A-Thons were happening all over the world and offered devs incentives for each approved app they submit to BlackBerry World – $100 per app up to a max of $2,000.
Now that BlackBerry has successfully launched the OS and their first round of devices, the company declared that “the number of apps you submitted greatly surpassed our expectations; with rewards exceeding $4 million USD!” This means that a total of 40,000 BB10 apps were ported to BlackBerry World.
BlackBerry World now has over 130,000 available apps. The next device that is rumoured to be released is the A10 – another all-touch BB10 that is expected to come with a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED display (1080×1920 resolution), 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor, 3000mAh battery, and 2GB RAM.
